Tired of adult acne...help?

I have had acne since puberty, many years ago. I have tried all over the counter produtcs, even Proactive, nothing works. I have very sensitive, oily skin. I've been thinking about Murad, but I do not want to waste my money. I have been to the dermatologist, but that didn't work either. Please help!!!!

Tired of adult acne...help?
well i had acne and i had it ever since i was 10 or 11. The best way to get rid of acne is to wash it in warm water everyday and put lotion. There are many ways to get acne:

-Eating too much sugar such as candy or chocolate.

-putting on too much makeup

-rubbing your skin too much

-scratching your skin too much.

Your acne may be covered with bacteria that is why u should keep it clean. Adding too much chemicals will even give you more acne. Remember to keep it clean and also believe it or not you may be under stress, if your under stress u tend to break out a lot. Try keeping stress away
Reply:try some of colombias finest coffee!!
Reply:GO TO THE DERMATOLOGIST AND GET TAZORAK. AFTER YOU HAVE USED IT FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, ONLY USE IT AS SPOT TREATMENT.

IT WILL MAKE YOUR SKIN PEEL, BUT THIS IS GOOD AND TEMPORARY. --(THIS MIGHT BE EXPENSIVE W/O INSURANCE, IF SO, JUST TRY THE BELOW OPTIONS FIRST AND IN THE MEANTIME, TRY TO GET YOUR HANDS ON SOME TYPE OF RETINOID.)

USE VASELINE WHEN YOU GET DRY.

USE ONLY THE PROACTIVE 'TYPE' BENZOIL PEROXIDE 2.5 AND NO STRONGER. AND DON'T LEAVE IT ON TOO LONG, WASH IT OFF IN THE MORNING AND REAPPLY IF NEEDED.

USE CLEARASIL DAILY CLEANSING PADS EVERY SINGLE DAY, ESPECIALLY BEFORE YOU GO TO BED. BUT NOT WHILE YOU ARE BEGINNING THE TAZORAK (THIS WILL BE TOO HARSH) --ONLY WHEN YOU TAPER IT DOWN TO SPOT TREATMENTS A FEW MONTHS LATER.

DRINK LOTS OF WATER

CHANGE YOUR PILLOW CASES EVERY NIGHT.

USE A VERY MILD CLEANSER LIKE OLAY SENSITIVE SKIN FOAMING CLEANSER OR ANOTHER EXTREMELY MILD CLEANSER.AND WASH YOUR FACE NO MORE THAN 3X DAILY MAX.

TAKE VITIMINS EVERY SINGLE DAY, BUT ONE WITHOUT IODINE.

TAKE A B COMPLEX, A FEW VIT C, A FEW VIT E, AND AN OMEGA 3 FATTY ACID COMPLEX EVERY DAY (FISH OILS AND OTHER OILS).

ONLY SQUEEZE WHEN ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY AND MAKE SURE TO DISINFECT YOUR HANDS AND YOUR SKIN BEFORE AND AFTER IF YOU PLAN TO DO MINOR SELF SURGERY.

IF YOU ARE ON BIRTH CONTROL AND YOUR ACNE IS OUT OF CONTROL, TRY GETTING OFF THEM. IF YOU ARE NOT ON BIRTH CONTROL TRY ORTHO TRI CYCLIN--IT IS THE ONLY ONE THAT MIGHT CLEAR YOU UP.

IF YOU WANT TO COVER IT UP, TRY CONCEALERS THAT COME IN A POT OR COMPACT THAT HAVE DIFFERENT SHADES TO MIX AND MATCH, OR GO TO A COSMETIC COUNTER AND ASK FOR HELP BUYING A SHADE THAT MATCHES YOU EXACTLY, SOMETIMES THEIR EYES ARE BETTER THAN YOURS.--A GOOD CONCEALER IS WORTH THE 10-20 BUCKS.

AND REMEMBER, DON'T EVER SLEEP WITH YOUR MAKE-UP ON. AS A MATTER OF FACT, WASH IT OFF AS SOON AS YOU DON'T NEED TO BE SEEN WITH IT ON ANYMORE. THE MORE TIME YOUR SKIN HAS TO BREATH AND NOT BE IRRITATED BY COSMETICS THE BETTER.
Reply:Egg yolk works great as a mask and will not irritate your skin.

Check your diet too.

More water, less sugar...

Plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit.

Get more sleep.

Exercise.

All the usual stuff..... water, rest, and no sugar will help.
Reply:Try a different dermatologist there are so many different alternatives. there are even antibiotics the dermatoligist can prescribe. It depends on the cause of your acne. Are you over-stimulating? Chemicals that are to harsh or tring cause breakouts. Are you drinking a lot of water. I promise if you replace everything you drink with water and then some more you'll sa a difference in about 3-4 weeks, but you have to keep doing it. It may also be some sort of allergic reaction.
Reply:Retin A is a miracle. MUST GO TO A DERMATOLOGIST. They can do things for your skin and reduce scarring, too. They can help. Just do it.
Reply:same here, first off, drink as much water as possible, iv learned that you have to start from the inside. i had the same problem, the only two things that has worked for me is plain old noxema, or go to walmart and look for a product called acnefree, it worked for me........oh and remember as hard as it is, dont pop your pimples and dont over wash, ill ask my cousin which is a top dermatoligist in houston and ill ask him and get back to you......wendy
Reply:Go to a doctor and get a prescription for retin A

works great. but stay out of the sun, and it will get worse before it gets better.once it's better ,you'll never have another pimple again.or wrinkle.!!

Bonus:-)
Reply:Girl, I'm with you. I'm 27 and my face looks like a normal 15 year olds. I NEVER had a zit in middle school or high school. It's like I turned 20 and BAM....the onslaught of horrible acne. I try to leave it alone, but I just can't. I have scars and I hate it. I feel so embarrassed because it seems like everyone else I see in their 20's on up have pretty much perfect skin. I don't know what to do either. I am curious to see what answers you get so maybe I can get a handle on my acne too! Good luck to both of us. :)
Reply:I use to have bad acne. But now I use to mary-K face wash and acne gel my face looks grate and i am a teen so all my friends ask me how my face is so clear of acne try it!!!!
Reply:Try clearasil it works trust me
Reply:Clay Powder for Cosmetic Treatments, it is cheap but is the best product I have ever used!!! I tried all the products from the best companies and nothing helped me like this did.

You will have to make a treatment for 7 days.it is a mask, hand made mask...you will have to mix the clay powder with water,or fruity and vegetable juices, milk, honey,or yolk to obtain efficent cosmetik mask for all skin types...for you,do it with water.

I know it will look like mud on your face, but you have to keep it 20-30 minutes on your face, and after a week, you will see that your face will look totaly diffrent...

after you do the treatment of 7 days, you will have to continue it 1-2 times a week...but belive me it is worth!!!I have seen results after the first time I did it...it depends also on how big your problem is...but this will help you for sure.

try to find it in pharmacy...i don`t know where you are from,so I cannot tell you where you will find it,in naturist shops aswell.

write me after 7 days doing the treatment, and if you don`t see any results...I will send you the money back...
Reply:How long have you used proactive? And how did you use it? How long ago did you use it?I know at first it will irritate your skin, but if you keep using it correctly it may work. They have newer and better products to use besides the three you get. I actually switch off an on I only use the cleanser in the morning and when it is very hot outside plus I use the repair lotion. I do not use the toner. I use a mild cleaner at night which has tiny beads in it to get the dirt out of your pores. And then I use the repair lotion and there is another lotion I use to help prevent acne, and if I do get any it will help them go away faster. I will tend to get break outs more when I get near having my menstrual cycle. What did the dermatologist suggest? I also went to one years ago he told me to use dove soap and a mild lotion which cost $10.00. It did work for a while but not long enough. What do you use now? Do you eat lots of fried foods? Are you always under stress? I hope this helps.
Reply:Hi, I can recommend a product that a friend of mine has been using. It is from a company called Arbonne and it is their Clear Advantage Line. My friend is 30 and like you has tried everything out there. This has worked for her where nothing else has. It does take 3-4 weeks to start seeing result. Her sink has cleared up so much that my husband even commented how great her skin is looking. You can check it out in their online catalog at http://www.wonderful.myarbonne.com Good luck to you.
Reply:i went to dermatologist and told him right out to put me on accutane. it is amazing, absolutely changed my life. i feel so confident and beautiful now and am no longer hiding behind makeup. accutane cures acne. no more zits ever. its a cure not a treatment. the drug has serious side effect though like birth defects so as a women you must be using 2 forms of birth control and not get pregnant.

i am so thankful - i am getting married next summer and not having to worry about my skin is the best feeling.

good luck!

Reply:I like Mary Kay. It has an awesome acne skin care. You can go to marykay.com or find a local consultant. I use it and love it. For years I had acne prone skin. Not with Mary Kay. And it lasts a long time. Good luck!
Reply:I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me. We have been fooled, tricked, deceived, and just plain lied to. It's time that someone put a stop to it, and everyone learn the truth!

Those of us who suffer from acne have usually been given 2 choices and neither of them work:

1. Over the counter remedies such as cleansers, creams, ointments, etc. These things have been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

2. Go see a doctor and or dermatologist. They will generally prescribe prescription drugs which include topicals and or antibiotics. This, too, has been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

I found a step-by-step program that cured my acne and it has never come back. It is amazing and doesn’t use any drugs or doctors. The truth is that acne can be cured…if we know the secret the doctors and drug companies don’t want us to know.

There is a great website: http://cure-my-acne.info/3daycure/ that has all the details. I really suggest you check it out and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.
Reply:Acne In Adults

Acne is normally considered a problem of teenagers. Most people believe that acne will clear forever after the teenage is past. That is not true. Acne can appear in adulthood also. Many adults, especially females suffer acne in adulthood.

The reasons of adult acne may include hormonal changes during pregnancy, menstruation, some drugs as anabolic steroids, etc. Some lithium containing drugs, few anti-tuberculosis drugs and some other drugs may also cause adulthood acne. You need to talk to your doctor about the association of any drug you may be taking and its acne causing potential.

Sometimes acne appears in people who had no acne during their adolescence and sometimes it recurs for no reason. Some other reasons of adulthood acne may be pressure on a particular place of the skin by some mechanical action. This is also called acne mechanica. Carrying a backpack that constantly irritates the skin is one such example. Look for such reasons if you get acne in adulthood. Some industrial chemicals can also cause acne. This is an occupational problem and is called chloracne. You may be confusing other conditions such as folliculitis, which is a disease of hair follicles, with acne. Adult acne is difficult to treat than adolescent acne and you should talk to your doctor rather than taking OTC medicine.
