I have REALLY bad adult acne I'm 26 and it just keeps getting worse, any suggestions?

I have tried the dermatologist, everything he prescribed didnt work. Using Proactive for about 6 weeks and nothing still! Tried Biore products and similar ones that are over the counter and nothing! Also took antibiotics and that didnt help either. Am I just going to have to be an ugly bumpy faced freak forever? HELP!

I have REALLY bad adult acne I'm 26 and it just keeps getting worse, any suggestions?
It must be an allergy. Get yourself tested for allergies and see what foods u are allergic to. Try avoiding them for a period of time. Obviously it is something coming from the inside out....
Reply:try birth control. It worked for me.
Reply:Go to a different dermatologist.
Reply:drink lots of water dont drink soda. eat good foods and wash your face with soap every night. try acne spot treatment gel by neostrata, its great!
Reply:Try an endocrinologist. Maybe your problem is hormonal. If that doesn't work, I suggest you try a doctor specializing in homeopathic/naturalistic remedies. Good luck. I have friends and relatives who have suffered through the same problem. They got very emotional about it.

If you are a female and also have issues with irregular periods along with your acne, you may have a condition called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome: PCOS. An endocrinologist can help you diagnose (or rule out) that condition. Women with PCOS typically, but no always, experience amenorrhea or oligomenorrhea (absent or very infrequent periods), infertility (as a result of irregular periods), unexplained weight gain, hirsutism (abnormal hair growth on face, arms, groin, etc) and sometimes uncontrollable acne. PCOS can, however, be asymptomatic or be accompanied by some, rather than all, above mentioned symptoms.

If you cannot see an endocrinologist due to insurance coverage, ask your gynecologist to run some tests to check your hormone levels, specifically to rule out PCOS, including the testosterone level.

I feel confident this information will help you. I think your dermatologist didn't search deep enough.

Reply:You should also ask your doctor about Retin A. I used Proactive for a year and it never worked. My doctor finally put me on Retin A and the acne cleared up within 2 months (and I had it BAD). Obviously I can't guarantee it will work for you, but Retin A does seem to work for acne that doesn't respond to Proactive.

Oh man, I know exactly how you feel about Biore products. I used to use them all the time and all they did was turn my skin red without getting rid of the acne. I'm sure Biore products work for most people (otherwise they would never sell) but for people like you and me, we just have to keep trying whatever we can until we find something that works.
Reply:Try a very well recommended Dermatologist. Remember, sometimes some products take at least 6-8 weeks to fully become active.

Micro Retin-A really worked for me. I used it and the first 6 weeks it made me break out a bit more but after 6 weeks my skin seriously cleared up and looks even better than before I had acne. Micro Retin-A is a prescribed product so try to talk to a dermatologist about it. Tazorac is the same type of treatment and works well too.

Keep using Proactiv in the meantime, it may take a bit longer to fully work on your skin. Be consistant and it will work.

Also, keep your bedsheets cleaned and washed, especially your pillow covers. Don't use fragranced detergent or softner, it might be irritating your skin.

Try mineral make up, that might make a difference as well. Good luck and hang in there!
Reply:Start exercising more and stop eating junk food, fatty foods, and high sugar drinks. Your pores are clogging up. Saunas help
Reply:Claravis is certainly the key! Im dead serious! I have tryed everything on earth! Creams, gels, perscriptions, lotions, bath soaps everything! Its such a life saver! Its a pill, first you take 1 pill for a month the the rest of the time you take two. You have to go to your dermatologist to get it but its soooo worth it. The only thing about it is that you CAN NOT get pregnant when your on the pill. If you get pregnant it could seriously affect the baby. Therefore the derm. makes sure you are either using condoms or on the pill. Every month you have to have a visit to the doctor to get the perscription, you go online to the website and take a quick quiz making sure you know the affects it could have on a baby and then go pick it up at the pharmacy. It may sound like alot to do, but it really isnt. I took it for 4 months and i havent had anything on my face since and that has been a year ago. I had xxxxx bad acne. It was deep under the skin where u couldnt get to. This medicine is sooo great. I really wish you knew how great. Theres diffrent brands too so your insurance will take care of it. Mine did! which was even better! i really hope you get this, you have no idea what it will do for you! please mesage me back if you ever get it and tell me how it helped u too!
Reply:OMG Biore? Ouch those hurt!

I use and love Lavender Oil (Lavandula officinalis)...

http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/laven...

It does so much to combat skin problems. Reduces redness, dries out the pimples and it smells great too. I use it straight if I have a fresh one coming up, but the directions recommend you to dilute the product. Try it, you can always use it as aroma therapy if you don't want it on your skin :)

It can even help you rest better if you sprinkle a bit on your pillow. The options are endless. I even get a friend's yummy organic lavender bread from her booth at the farmers market... ;)

best wishes!

Reply:First, you need a really good skin care regimen - you should wash, use a toner, and moisturize. If you are not putting a toner on after you wash, your skin is exposed to the environment.

I would stay away from ProActiv. It is really harsh on your face and has some bleaching chemicals (It bleached my hairline when I used it and ruined my washcloths).

As a healthier alternative, you could try the Clear Advantage Line from Arbonne International. It has a wash, toner, and lotion. It also comes with a skin supplement vitamin that pushes the toxins out of your skin - in other words, things will be worse before they get better. Zinc in the product helps your skin heal faster and they use salicylic acid instead of benzoyl peroxide (a higher grade). Arbonne also offers a 45 day money back guarantee.

Whatever, you choose, stick with it for at least 6 weeks to determine if it is working. Other hints - keep you hands away from your face, don't pop your acne, avoid sun exposure.......Good luck!

How can i hide adult acne?

estee lauder double wear..even mix it with oil free moisturizer or water ( i mix with water) cuz its so great , its actually too good (thick extra coverage) but dont worry its oil free!

How can i hide adult acne?
TRY BARE MINERALS! i LOVE THIS MAKEUP! iTS SO PURE THAT U CAN SLEEP IN IT! pLUS IT WON'T AGGRIVATE YOUR SKIN! Report It

Reply:try special med
Reply:grow a beard. oops maybe that won't work for u.
Reply:It's kind of impossible to hide. I have it too, mostly flares up before my monthly cycle. But, there's always a few here and there. Anti-bacterial soap and scrubbing with a clean washcloth really help. You can try to hide it with a good concealer make-up and powder. But, when I do, it usually makes me break-out worse later. It's a vicious circle. Best of luck to us and anyone else with this problem.
Reply:You'll want to use a better cleanser and moisterizer to get rid of it. But when they do show up try a facial highlighting pen or concealer. Mary Kay has amazing stuff that will help you out... Try Time Wise Miracle Set and either a facial highlighting pen or concealer.
Reply:Well, you could either put on foundation(which I don't know if that will totally work) or you could use some facial cleaning products.
Reply:Wear a mask!!
Reply:sorry... don't want to retype this all, so here's a copy and paste from a similar question i just answered:

first off, if you want to cover acne, foundation isn't going to be a lot of help, though it is a start:

first figure out if you're more warm or cool... don't look at your face to test this, look at your neck or forehead. is it more yellowy (warm) or pinkish (cool)? try to find somewhere you can test foundations before buying it... to test, run a bit along a clean jawline and smudge it in... if it disappears, you've got it.

now, to cover the acne. first off, you need a CORRECTOR. since most acne is red, you'll want a green one. you can get these just about anywhere. I know it seems funny to put green on your face, but if you've ever seen a colour wheel, green neutralizes red, turning it brownish. so put on the green to cover the red, then a concealer (your correcter may come with some?) over top of it to correct the colour.

also: for foundations! there's a lot of kinds out there: liquid, powders, creams, tinted moisturizers. if your skin is really muddled and blemished with red spots, use a cream, it'll be thicker and give you more coverage. also, if you have a good week and don't need so much coverage, you can add moisturizer to sheer it down.

if you put the foundation on before the corrector, it'll cover a lot of the minor blemishes and it'll save you a lot of correcter, time, and effort

additional comment to some of the other posters: wearing makeup shouldn't be clogging your pores and making it worse unless you're not cleansing! there's FIVE steps to skin care!

Cleanse! (for your oilier skin, you'll want a gel as opposed to a cream. and definately not a bar soap, as they're too harsh)

Stimulate! this is exfoliating and getting the blood flowing, which will help your skin regeneration and with sloughing of the dead skin. try a scrub with the little beads, or a mask, or AHAs...

Remove residue: astringents, toners, refreshiners... a lot of these can be acne medications too, and they'll get rid of any exfoliant, and all the bad crap in the tap water that'll hurt your skin.

Moisturize: self explainatory :P a lot of that may have zapped the moisture from your skin, you want to balance it back out.

and PROTECT! even if you don't wear foundation, wear an SPF! Something to protect your skin from UV and pollution... wearing nothing on your skin can actually be worse than wearing foundation.

It seems like a lot, but once you've gotten in the habit (4 or 5 days?), it takes 5 minutes to run through it all, and your skin will look a thousand times better.
Reply:use proactive or where a lot of makeup
Reply:Personally I would recommend Neutrogena cosmetics that are formulated for problem skin, Maybelene PURE, or the MARK line (made for the teen girl's problematic skin). Invest in a concealer that will fight acne as you wear it throughout the day and be careful not to wear other pore cloging products that will allow for more acne.

Also be sure to wash it all away before bed, and to allow your face at LEAST one day a week to breathe without makeup.

If you have oily skin and nothing seems to work (and you don't have the funds to use ProActive, or you have and that doesn't work) I reccomend the BiorĂ©® Pore Perfect product line along with BiorĂ©® Shine Control.

Can merina coil cause adult acne?

Yes, regaurdless of what your doc says it is still releasing hormones into your system, it is a VERY low does but it is released into your system. your OB is NOT going to tell you that but it is true. So just like any other hormonal BC it can cause acne. Since I got mind fitted i have notice a large increase in the amount of pimples i get all over.

Anyone else suffer from adult acne?
Hi Wonderwoman

Here are some real answers on skin conditions. Remedies at the bottom. Cleansing the body of toxins is the key. Especially a colon cleanse! Educate yourself on detoxifying the blood.

Judyth Reichenberg-Ullman N.D. - "What is your skin trying to tell you? Often the skin is a metaphor for deeper issues and a way for your body to send up a red flag to warn you that all is not well underneath. When our skin is unhealthy it is usually a reflection of the internal state of our bodies, and is often a sign of poor elimination of toxins and waste products. Most of us are embarrassed by skin problems such as rashes, rosacea, boils or acne, especially in places where others can see our imperfections. The skin is the body's first line of defense against the environment. It has to deal with the effects of weather, sun , cold, heat, dryness, humidity, scrapes, bumps, soaps, detergents, chemicals, perspiration and dirt of all kinds. It is a wonder that our skin stays healthy most of the time! We can help our skin deal with this onslaught by optimizing our general health and by protecting our skin from harsh environmental exposure. Western medicine generally treats skin eruptions with either antibiotics, cortisone, or antifungal preparations. These medicines may alleviate the skin problem temporarily, or occasionally for good, but do not address the source of the problem. Putting a lid on skin symptoms without getting to the root of the imbalance may even result in suppression, that means the imbalance may be driven deeper causing more serious health problems later without ever strengthening the underlying vital force of the person. Fortunately, naturopathic medicine offers a wide vareity of effective treatments for skin problems."

Judyth Reichenberg-Ullman N.D. - "Your skin is a reflection of how well your body is eliminating the toxins that build up on a daily basis. Chronic skin conditions such as acne, eczema and psoriasis stem from a combination of genetic factors, immune stress, dietary deficiencies or sensitivities, and the accumulation of toxins in the body. For our skin to be radiant and clear, it is very important that the other organs of elimination (kidneys, liver, lungs, and colon) are cleansing the body effectively. If not, the skin will be overtaxed, pores will become clogged, and eruptions of one sort or another will result. Here are a number of steps you can take to improve your body's overall elimination wtih specific emphasis on your skin."

Detoxification is a normal body process of eliminating or neutralizing toxins through the colon, liver, kidneys, lungs, lymph and skin. Juice Fasting is the world's most ancient and natural healing mechanism. Fasting triggers a truly wondrous cleansing process that reaches right down to each and every cell and tissue in the body.

Learn more about Therapeutic Fasting and Detoxification - Colon Cleansing is the main step. Must remove the toxins from the colon, so the toxins dont get in the blood and cause illness and disease.

Natural Cures

1. Fruits and Vegetables for Acne: Carrot %26amp; spinach, celery %26amp; watercress, grapefruit juices are all useful to combat acne.

2. Unwholesome Foods: Acne, a prevalent problem among teen-aged boys would not be possible in our society if our foods were wholesome. A most sad and disgusting sight is the pus-filled pimples due to inner toxicity --- wastes trying desperately to escape through the face. This condition often turns a gentle face in the blossom of youth into a waste dump of pimples, pus and subsequent pock marks which can be prevented. The tons of acne medications and prescriptions sold annually act only on the effect of the harmful food, and not the cause of the disease, malnutrition. The traditional teenage meal, a grease burger, french fries and a milk shake or cola simply does not provide enough nourishment for anyone, let alone a boy going through puberty to adulthood. Our highly processed foods are devoid of hormones found in fresh fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and seeds. Must do a colon cleanse to rid of all the toxins in the body, which eventually get into the blood and cause acne and all other diseases.

3. Cabbage: Apply a lotion of freshly prepared cabbage juice preceded, if desired, by the application of leaves. The eating of cabbage leaves or juice is also helpful.

4. Lemon Juice: Skin problems such as acne... will often respond to a treatment of lemon juice. For blackheads rub lemon juice over them each night.

5. Black Walnut: Externally, Black Walnut is nearly a miracle worker in cases of ...acne, dandruff, boils, itch, shingles, ringworm--we could go on, but you can see that you can use Black Walnut whenever a skin disorder appears! The tincture is an excellent first-aid remedy for wounds.

Best of health to you

My only advise, and please email me if you don't need it, is to stop drinking and not eat before going to bed.

Reply:try soem vitamin C tablets. take over the recommended intake for a while then go to the normal dose. it should clear your skin up. multivitamins would be good, but seperate C tablets are good.
Reply:yes, I think it might have been hormonal for me, I've used proactive solution, and I don't break out any more, and stick to mineral makeup, everything else makes me break out, good luck

so i know they're hormonal. but they don't really bother me yet.

look at whether any female relations in your family were/are the same. my mum had the same as me.

if like me they're hormonal answer is to address your hormone levels, where you should see a doctor for advice. But i have heard that evening primrose oil or starflower oil can calm hormone levels.

Reply:its not about ur diet.just ur insides.im 18 am using benzoyl peroxide and differin cream and seems to be working fine.
Reply:yep i'm 22 and my acne should be gone 2 years ago but i got allergic to a product and have been having little cogged pores for 7 months now. i'm seeing a dermatologist and he gave me benzoy peroxide, claramide(sp??), salycylic acid and it is doing better now. he will put me on roaacutane next week depending on the results i have with his medication. but please dont try over the counter products around as you do not know which is good and which is not and could risk more breakouts. a dermatologist would know your skin better than an MA over the counter.
Reply:Having been plagued by acne, and tried several remedies, I was finally referred to a Dermatologist when in my forties. He put me on Roaccutane (spelling?). I think I was on it for about six months and some of the side effects were unpleasant, but what a job it did on the acne! I used to get it worst on my face, neck and back and had scarring as a result. Now, some 12 years later, I get only the occasional pimple but NOTHING, compared to what I had.

I was extremely self concious about the acne and seldom went to the swimming baths or took my shirt off in public. People don't realise how badly it can affect some people.

Do see your doc and push for a consultation with a dermatologist. Not everyone, or every type of acne, will be suited to this drug, but you can only try. Good luck
Reply:for all my spots i use oxy gel its new and you can get it in superdrug it reduses redness in 8 hours as well. nothing else has worked but this give it a go. i have used it for a week and seen great results.
Reply:i have tried everything on the market, freederm from the chemist is my best friend for those stubbon zits!
Reply:there are steps which helped no end and cheap to as its a constant thing to keep at way, as you know. First when you bathe try dettol, a couple of caps fulls in the bath, this kills germs that our bodies carry and cleanse the skin. After put e 45 cream on it works for all kinds of skin complaints that the Doctor recommends to most to try. Also wash hands all the time this sounds simple but think of the dirt that we carry from touching this transfers onto our skin. Then a daily routine of drinking at least 2litres of water to flush the system. And mulliti vitamin every day. I know it sounds hard but its all easy creaming takes two minutes, pop a vitamin pill one minute and drink the water through out the day and eat less sugar and grease. I have no spots i follow a two minute routine and i have great skin for my age and look younger. In fact i have my children doing it now. And if you suffer stress this will only increase the problem so try to relax at night so you get a good night sleep. I fell ill and was in hospital i did not do all of this and had spots, life style and what we eat and drink plays a huge part in this. Take care

Things that clear up adult acne?

im suggesting a all natural approach no chemicals and inexspensive for you and you can buy everything at your local grocery store if you dont already have it in your home. Try cutting a limon squeezing the juice on a cotton ball and appling to the infected areas i got this tip from a ford model i tryed it last night and i couldnt believe that its working. She also told me if you would like to turn it into a scrub take plain yogurt, salt n limon mix and apply to your face and scrub use warm water to rinse and finally if you have a pimple or bump appy honey place a band aid over it and in the morning you will se a change :) i hope that this help

I have very bad adult acne, can you help recommend something to use to clear this up?

I have used every thing, prescribed medicine, nuetrogena, to name a few, I worry about cost, but after you think about it, you spend enough to go to the dermotoglist. My chin is my worst area.

Reply:Pro-Activ! I swear it's the best and they let you try free for about 60 days I think so you can see if you like it. You should at least try it, it's really good!
Reply:I am 39 and still have it too.

I use Acne-Free (like Proactiv but cheaper and from Walmart or Costco).

I was still getting some cystic acne (those deep ones that hurt like crazy!) on my chin too. I found out I had some food allergies and intolerances.

Try keeping a food log and see if you find any comparisons to when your acne is worse.

Good luck-- and I hope this helps!!
Reply:i have acne too the best thing is to exfoliate, u can do one at home by cutting a lemon or lime in half and dipping the flesh part in sugar cut the edges of the lemos so it wont hurt when u gentle scrub ur face and neck. or u can by a good one from any cvs rite aid or eckerd type drug store and it called ST. IVES swiss formula apricot scurb and always moistureize with a acne oil free moistureizer like neutrogena acne moisturizer good luck
Reply:You may hear much opposition to this, but I had terrible acne as a teenager and I new that as I got older it would get better. It never did; it continued well into my adulthood. About ten or so years ago I went to my dermatologist and had him put me on Accutane. I've never had to take anything again since. I might every once in a while get a little pimple here or there, but nothing near what I had before. I wasn't able to take it for the entire 6 months or however long it was, but apparently is was long enough because it worked. I'm not saying it's the right thing for you, but I'm telling you that it worked for me and I had a friend who was 25 years old that tried it a couple of years ago and I haven't seen her have a break out since.
Reply:give clearpores a try.
Reply:The best product would be Neways - it's a range that is 100% guaranteed to be free of ALL TOXIC CHEMICALS and gentle on your skin. It works to balance your skin while clearing up the existing blemishes and soothing the irritated skin at the same time. Proactive is full of harsh chemicals and can often cause more harm than good. A friend of mine tried proactive for a while and while it helped at first, her skin broke out again, went terribly dry and bleached...!!! She tried the Neways range and from the first application, she noticed an improvement. She now is a dedicated user with lovely skin. You will not find Neways in retail stores. If you are interested in an obligation free sample and extra info, shoot me an email super_staa@yahoo.com.au. I'm based in NSW but am more than happy to post you something anywhere in australia.
Reply:I have used this highly informative information and it worked for me in getting rid of my pesky acne. And you don't need to buy expensive acne cream either! http://www.theknowguide.com/acnefree.htm...
Reply:PROACTIV SOLUTIONS
Reply:I use proactive. It dried my skin out at first, but after about 2 weeks that went away. I still get break-outs on my chin, but they aren't as bad and they don't last as long now. Just an FYI, a doctor once told me that breakouts below your mouth are caused by stress. I don't know if this is really true, but it could explain why I get them so often there, plus people tend to rest their chin in their hand. Anyway I would definatly reccomend proactive!

Do mobile phones cause adult acne?

i think there is a very good chance they do

try holding the phone so its not touching you and wipe with antibac wipes see if that helps

Do mobile phones cause adult acne?
Nope. That's an urban myth
Reply:No!
Reply:I would definitely say they could as a mobile held to the face will spread germs if not cleaned regularly with sterile wipes.
Reply:not unless you got the thing glued to you face, but honest, it was just on the nite news , how manys germs they carry and how you should try to wipe them off with santi wipes
Reply:Yes. If you talk for long periods of time with the phone up against your skin. It causes you to sweat between the phone and your skin. Use a hands-free phone and you'll be better off.
Reply:Anything that can touch your skin and promote bacteria can help cause acne but stress above all can. If the phone put's too much pressure on you then it doubles the chances he's the culprit!
Reply:No, nonsens.
Reply:absolutely they can. All the oil that builds up on your phone gets transfered onto your face and thus causing excess oil on your face and creating acne. Use Wet ones or any kind of antibacterial wipe to wipe your phone when you are done using it. That should take care of that.
Reply:Acne is caused by blocked pores becoming infected. A mobile phone is too big to block pores and cannot be the sole cause of adult acne. If your pores are blocked for some other reason and the mobile phone is not kept clean, it could be the vector for an infection.
Reply:no but having your hand constantly touching your face while on the phone will.
Reply:Hi,AND WHO SAID ACNE ARE BAD? IN A BOY THEY INDICATE AT LEAST A GOOD LEVEL OF A MASCULINE HORMONE CALLED TESTOSTERONE AND IN A GIRL A GOOD LEVEL OF THE FEMEINIZING HORMONE;OESTROGEN.CELLULAR PHONES,EATING CHOCOLATE OR CHEESE AND MASTURBATION HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ACNE
Reply:i would agree to yes.... especially if ur skin is extra oily.
Reply:Not at all
Reply:If they do, why aren't most of the adult population covered in acne, my friends and I should be covered from head to foot.
Reply:well not the mobile phone it self but all the dirt it collects few the weeks i would really get some wipes to clean you phone

Any good suggestions for adult acne? I never had it as a teen, and once I hit 25...ugh! What about Proactiv?

I feel your pain!

-Proactive works but you have to stick to it, you should also try Reversion acne system (it's only two steps), it makes your skin super smooth, but you should use it every other day or it might dry out your skin.

-Use a good moisturizer like Clinique's Dramatically Different Lotion or Kiehl's (One of the reasons we might get acne is that we tend to dry out the skin, and that makes the skin produce more oil to hydrate itself, which clogs the pores).

- Stay away from Accutane, my roommate in college took it and had a bunch of weird side effects.

-Low-dose birth control like Ortho-Tricyclen Lo also will really clear up your skin, but that's a more drastic measure.

-Eat your veggies and drink lots of water!

PRO ACTIVE REALLY REALL REALLY WORKS!!
Reply:Proactiv is pretty good, but I found it to be drying. And with summer here you can't go in the sun with proactiv or any other benzoyl peroxide creams. It'll make your skin peel

I recently started using Cetafil. It's a gentle cleanser that doesn't clog pores and, you can go out in the sun after using it
Reply:Ask you Dr about Doxycycline, or Tetracycline. Generic versions of Proactiv. Been around a lot longer, they work for me.
Reply:i used proactive and i still do and it actually really works if you keep with the schedule i used to skip and go to bed with makeup on NOT GOOD :) and just make sure u try it out on one part of your face firts i know for some people it dries out their skin but for most it really works try it and just make sure u clean your face every night cause thats what got me :) good luck

separate an egg, discard the white and stir the yolk to blend it. cover your face, avoiding the eyes and lips, w/ the yolk. let sit for 10 minutes and wash off. do this every day for 30 days. you'll see results after the first application. you can save the leftove egg yolk for the next day. one yolk lasts about 3 days.

after the 30 days, you need to apply the yolk again once every 2 weeks.
Reply:Pro Activ works, but I have found using a exfoliating rub like St Ives or even Walmarts house brand Equate in the shower every other day cleans teh dead skin cells off your face, takes off any blockages off your pores and prevents Adult Acne. Both the wife and I use it. There are different types find the one that suits you . We use the medicated kind and it works for us.
Reply:OK, stop all dairy products. My daughter loves milk and milk products and had really bad acne. She went off all dairy products and in 3 days her skin had cleared! It was amazing!!
Reply:• Peak acne years are 14–17 in females and 16–19 in males. As many as 40% of females and 35% of males are affected during these years.

• Keep your hands to yourself …

touching skin encourages the spread of bacteria and excess oils, leading to breakouts.

• Excessive cleansing and scrubbing can make acne worse.

A deep-cleaning wash that unclogs pores, while keeping outbreaks under control with acne-fighting salicylic acid that prevents new blemishes, without drying skin. Peppermint helps to open your pores and allows them to be cleansed from the inside. This means pores appear to be smaller, giving you a more youthful appearance.

I found this line of products based on botanical principles, formulatted without animal products and formulatted without mineral oil. Mineral oil is the 2nd worse thing that you could do to your skin, (#1 is the sun), it is like rubbing car oil on your skin and exposing it to the sun. Animal products come from rendering plants what these plants do is pick all dead animals from road, meatmarkets, etc., and put them inside a huge pot, squash everything inside, boil it and the oil that comes to the top is what companies use to formulate their "beauty" products. I would have to recommend using Arbonne products, Check out the Clear Advantage, they do not contain benzoyl peroxide, which is too strong for your skin, have you seen people with acne who have their skin peeling, well that is what this ingredient does to you, it overdries your skin leaving it without the mantle acid which protects your skin from air pollution, dirt and others. Arbonene uses salycilic acid which is equally effective without overdrying your skin. I have been struggling with acne since very young and this is the only product that has worked with me. These products are botanically based and do not use none of animal products (they are BEAUTY WITHOUT CRUELTY) they do not use mineral oil (nor the derivates of petroleum) they are hypoallergenic, pH balanced, recommended and used by dermatologyst, well they are just great. I started using them a few months ago and I would have only wished to have known them before and works wonderful to clear and stop acne i buy it online at: arbonnepuertorico.myarbonne.co...
Reply:What silver R said, the cause for acne is Dairy products -saturated animal fat, cholesterol, steroid hormones, dead white blood cells, and cow pus,(this is milk) combined with your own surging hormones guess what your gonna get acne. Dont waste your money on useless face scrubs and products that only irritate your skin. No dairy products no acne that simple.

Does pregnancy sometimes spur adult acne?

Yes! For me, I battle with it more when I am not pregnant, then it clears up when I am. The surgence of hormones changes the way your skin feels, not just on your face.

I use Murad products to keep my acne in check. There are several facial products out there that you shouldnt use when pregnant, because it gets into your bloodstream through your pours, so be sure to check with your doctor if you are using harsh acne products.

Does pregnancy sometimes spur adult acne?
yes it does
Reply:Oh you bet. I have acne throughout my pregnancies. But thankfully clear skin returns after my babies come.
Reply:I am living proof that it does. I never had anything other than an occassional pimple as a teenager, and at 28 when I had my first child I started having acne---and now 7 year later am still dealing with it. The pill has helped it, but hasn't solved the problem completely.
Reply:oh yeah....its because of hormones!
Reply:Yes, but sometimes it might clear skin up too. Those hormones can do ANYTHING!
Reply:oh my goodness, yes! and it's awful. I used to have clear pretty skin until I got pregnant with my daughter. Now I fight with it every day. My ob told me I could use proactive once or twice a week and it would be safe, but it seems like if you dont use it daily, then it really dosnt work. This is my first baby, but ive heard that after the pregnancy is over that your skin will clear up. So hopefuly this is true!!! It's one of the worse things in pregnancy. At least for me it has been. Good luck to you!

Are there any effective adult acne treatments over the counter?

I have heard great things about Proactive Solution. My sister uses it and I have watched the infomercial many times. Kelly Clarkson, Jessica Simpson, P Diddy, Vanessa William, Lindsey Lohan and many other Hollywood stars use it too. You can order it online, but most stores like Walmart, Target, Walgreens and as seen on tv stroes carry it too. It's about $20 bucks but they say it works good.

Are there any effective adult acne treatments over the counter?
I find clearpores works extremely well, but there are many others like acnezine, proactiv, zenmed.

I have very bad adult acne, can you help recommend something to use to clear this up?

I have used every thing, prescribed medicine, nuetrogena, to name a few, I worry about cost, but after you think about it, you spend enough to go to the dermotoglist. My chin is my worst area.

I have very bad adult acne, can you help recommend something to use to clear this up?
proactiv
Reply:I am 42 and still battling this "teenage scourage". I also have rosacea. If you find a product that works please let me know!
Reply:i found soap 2 be the enemy.. soo i just wipe my face with wet wash rag.. try that for a few weeks and see if it makes a differents.. bummer eh
Reply:try proactive.. it worked for me, but you'll probably have to use it for at least two weeks before you see any results

Reply:I have had acne since I was a young teenager (I am 25 now) and NOTHING helped except Accutane. Although Accutane can be very dangerous and expensive, it is the only product that stopped and cleared my acne. I took it about 3 years ago and my skin is still acne free! I have also tried tons of antibiotics, retin A, Proactiv, and every OTC treatment available. By the way, my acne is genetic and it wasn't diet related. Best of Luck!
Reply:use anti bacterial soap ad aloooot of mousterizer...acne is due to inflammation of the pores due to bacteria and dry skin...my brother had it...it works great....and creams only prevent they don't get rid of it...

try to make yourself vegetarian and have non-veg once or twice a week.

When someone has adult acne are they lacking in some nutrient?

What causes it? I seem to get worse around PMS time etc.

When someone has adult acne are they lacking in some nutrient?
i had adult acne...i never had it as a kid, and then it just came up. around the jawline and hairline, and even my cheeks. i was told that hormone levels and stress cause it. i tried taking birth control to regulate hormones, and working out to get rid of stress...but it did nothing. neither did traditional creams or oral medications. i have read several articles saying that traditional methods of acne treatment don't really work, and that they don't totally understand what causes adult acne. it's difficult to treat. it was very difficult for me to deal with, not having had it when i was young, and my confidence really suffered.

i was living in mexico at the time and went to a doctor who gave me "Orotane." she didn't ask me to change my diet at all, she didn't address any missing nutrients. when i began the meds though, she did tell me not to eat any extra potasium, or vitamin A....but i think that had more to do with the medicine than the acne. she also told me to not get pregnant, and that i could not get pregnant until i was off the medicine for at least 1 year.

when i got back to the US my doctor told me to throw the medicine in the trash right away, that it was highly dangerous and against the law here in the US. (mostly because of lawsuits, not the actual drug) well, i didn't. i took it for the remaining 3 months (6 months total) and i have ZERO acne. it's awesome. and my bloodwork is fine and i am very healthy. although i certainly plan to wait at least the full year or more before becoming pregnant. it was very strange though...for about 5 and 1/2 months, i showed little improvment, and then all of the sudden...within the last two weeks it was gone and never came back. i still ocasionally get a zit or two right before my period, but now i have found that a quick round of antibiotics WILL clear it, whereas before Orotane, antibiotics did nothing.
Reply:Hormones defiantly has an affect on your adult acne.

Some people would say you maybe don't absorb or digest the nutrients that you need. Or you might be eating too much sugar and processed foods. It might be you need more healthy fats or you are wearing make up or lotion that clog your skim pores.

Drink more water, Eat healthy, exercise. Eat some healthy fats...olive oil %26amp; avacodo for example

I suffer from adult acne. Why? Is there a cure or just bandaids for it?
Proactive really works...my brother-in-laws face was horrible...he ordered that...now he looks almost as good as my husband
Reply:I use proactive solution, but I still get breakouts. You may want to visit a dermatologist or re-evaluate your current medications. Some produce acne as a side effect. I know my adderall does :-(

Good Luck hun
Reply:Try this for 30 days and see if it helps... And I'll bet you all my points that it will. Go buy Stress Tabs multivitamins, take one daily as directed. If at the end of 30 days it has cleared up all the acne, cut back to one every other day. If, after 30 days it's still cleared up, cut back to once every 3 days, and so on, until you know what you'll need to take to keep it away. Now you don't have to use the name brand stuff... WalMart's, Rite Aid, Walgreen's brands all work as well. Just make sure it's the stess formula.
Reply:i have proactive right now because i did suffer from adult acne before too. it really does work better than any other acne cleanser. i recommend it even to teens in need of help.

it might be from your monthly cycle since i had it to.

I suffer from adult acne, ive been using pro_active for over a year and still having breakouts.?
Pro-active is not always the best. There is a medication but you need to see your physician for it as it is prescribed. Accutane has had wonderful results with teenage and adult acne. You do have to see your doctor though for a presccription, as it can have many side effects. You don't wont to use it though if you are trying to concieve children at this time in your life. Good Luck.
Reply:our hormones can cause the break-outs and nothing's going to change that unless you take birth control
Reply:I also suffer from adult acne. I've tried soooo many different things it's unbelievable!

One cream that I've found is brilliant! It does dry the skin though and if you wear makeup, you'll need to practice blending!

It's called BENZOMYCIN GEL . Doctors don't like to prescribe it because it's expensive to produce, Make enough fuss though and they'll have to prescribe it!

Like I said I'm 27 and have had acne since I was 13, I must have tried 100's of different things from antibiotics, to creams, gels, light therapy, aromatherapy, blah blah, and this is the best thing I've found.

Another option is for £200 ish there's a type of laser treatment that zaps zits and scarrs called N lite laser (I think!). Can't afford it myself, but have heared that it's good.

Good Luck!

Adult Acne

While adult acne and juvenile acne involve infections generated by the same bacteria, skin conditions can be very different and require different forms of treatment. Factors that stimulate adult acne are frequently different than those involved with juvenile acne.

Adult onset acne (acne that begins in the adult years) usually involves normal or combination skin or even dry and/or sensitive skin, rather than the oily skin that is typical of juvenile acne. Most acne products, however, are developed for juvenile acne and contain high concentrations of benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, azelaic acid and other agents that can be excessively drying and potentially irritating to adult skin. Adult skin may not tolerate persistent use of these agents and skin sensitivity may become problematic.

Skintactix offers a variety of products developed for various skin types that effectively achieve a cure for adult acne. Special packages of products are available for excessively oily skin, and for normal and combination skin, and for dry and/or sensitive skin. An adult acne cure can be achieved without dehydration or irritation by selecting the appropriate product grouping.

Acne and Premature Skin Aging: Acne infections stimulate skin production of hydrogen peroxide which generates volumes of free radicals. The chemical rebuilding involved in healing infections and repairing the skin damage infections have caused also generates volumes of free radicals. In this manner acne causes premature aging, just like the volumes of free radicals caused by sun exposure. Control of acne is not only important to the appearance of the skin today, it is an important strategy to prevent the premature aging of the skin. If skin damage has already become a problem, achieve control of the acne first and once this is accomplished, address the issue of skin rejuvenation. Skintactix

Benzoyl Peroxide and Premature Skin Aging: Benzoyl peroxide creates free radicals in the skin and is known to cause premature skin aging, just like repeated sun exposure or persistent acne. Damage is determined by the concentration of benzoyl peroxide and the frequency of use. It has also been associated with increased risks of skin cancer. In 1995 the FDA issued warnings regarding the use of benzoyl peroxide and changed its status from safe to uncertain. For these reasons Skintactix does not use benzoyl peroxide or any other ingredient that might damage or prematurely age the skin. (See the Acne Tips page for additional information.)

Causes of Adult Acne: There are a number of factors that may initiate adult acne. Stress can be a major factor, via the production of cortisol, a steroidal hormone that promotes acne. Coffee consumption, like stress, promotes the production of cortisol. Other issues may be involved, such as smoking, low consumption of free fatty acids, etc.

Reply:Proactive really works. I have used this product and I have found that it helps to clear up the problem. I also found that drinking more H2O and resting more helps to work towards a clearer skin. I am not an expert, but I have battled acne for many years as an adult.
Reply:quite often a change in your hormones will activate the acne.

I would see an Endocrinologist for this if your insurance allows it. Otherwise go to your family doctor and ask for a referral.

The antibiotic treatment works well but it is temporary you must find and treat the underlying cause.

The Hormone problem would be more towards a woman of menopause age, but not always the case.

I assume by your position that you are not 21 y/o.

I hope this helps you out.

I have a very good background with hormone problems myself.
Reply:People who get achne probelm in adult age is primarily becasue of poor eating habits, pollution, exposure to chemicals and deficiency of basic vitamins/minerals in body.

Apart from home remedies there are several super premium quality products available in market which are derived from natural herbs and plants. (clarence, sofina, artistry etc.). One of my friend who works as skin consultant gave me a basic skin care system, a scrub(gel based) and an exfoliator (skin refinishing lotion) from Artistry range. I have able to reduce my acne problem by 70%.

I would recommend you also to try out a good scrub, exfoliator and a basic skin care system (cleanser, toner and moisturiser)

Make sure that you drink at least 3 litres of water everyday (that's minimum that you can do for your skin:) ) Also take some good foos suppliments for skin like vitamin-E (derived from parsley) and Vitamin-c (derived from acerola cherry)
Reply:Aloe Vera Juice has helped me a lot (daily consumption over weeks or months.) Dietary changes, too.

I would consult a physician. Still, try Aloe Vera Juice. It's very good for almost everything.
Reply:I have the same problem. I'm 27 about to be 28, none of my friends have pimples! I had tried everything, what are you using?

I started Murad products, 2 1/2 months ago, it took my face 2 months to fully adjust to it, but man it is great now. Yesterday I almost forgot to put makeup on! Go to Murad.com, they have a 30 day trial, risk free, can send it back if needed, my skin reacted at first but I stuck with it because it encourages you to. Now it costs $30 a month, well worth it. I also got the acne spray for my husband's back, he sweats really bad and his back breaks out horrible. His back is so clear it's amazing, it purged for like 1 week, then started clearing up, he was even out of the spray for 3 weeks and it stayed clear.

Reply:I had the same problem. Now I am getting better day after day. I will give you some points then I will give you a link for a web site that helped me allot.

1. Clean your skin several times a day. Use an anti bacterial product (avoid alcohol). Change your personal items (clean them) more often (such as towels..).

2. Use a gentle cleanser to keep your pours open. Avoid rubbing soup on your skin so it does not clog pours. Avoid strong product or those that burn or turn your skin red.

3. Keep away from sun as muck as you can. It can multiply the problem.

4. Cut down fats in your diet. Try to eat a healthier diet with veggies and fruits. Also drink a plenty of water.

5. I use a gel called "isotrex" it is made in the UK. It helps skin to get rid of excess oil.

6. Being depressed will only make things worse. so cheer up and I hope that every thing will turn better for you.

I will leave a link in the source box.

I am 21 years old, and I am getting pimples worse than ever! I have tried Proactive, and that didn't help at all. I have no idea what to do about it. It isn't seriously bad, just some around my mouth, cheeks, and chin. It's SO embarrassing because it seems like I am the only one around here without clear skin! What kind of products should I use? Is there anything else I could do? I am getting desperate. Ugh!!!

Question about adult acne??
Some birth control pills control acne; you could also try a topical like Retin-A. Retin-A works pretty good but it takes 2-3 months for it to really have an effect.
Reply:Sounds like you may need a trip to the doctor. You may need to take some medicine to clear your face up. It may be something going on inside. I tried all kind of things and couldn't figure out what was going on. I thought why is my face worse now than when I was a teenager. Well, they gave me some medicine and my problem was over. I just needed to take one perscription. Good luck!
Reply:try going to a dermatologist. mine put me on doxycicline (sp?) and spironolactone (sp?), and the combination works really well for me.
Reply:go to your dermatologist, i'm sure he or she will be able to help you out.. but if it's not that bad then they probably won't give you a prescription.. try using any kind of facewash and something to apply to it at night.. but DON'T overdo it, it'll just make things worse.. and don't wash your face with hot water or wash it too much, it'll only irritate your skin..
Reply:It sounds like your body is overloaded with toxins and isn't eliminating them properly. I use vitamins and minerals, selenium and iodine work wonders for this.

Is this adult acne? Can it be prevented? What is the best treatment?

I am a 57 year old female and in the last few years I have been getting bumps on my face that seem like pimples forming but they never come to a head (actually one did after about 2 years). Plus, they never seem to go away. I have about 6 or 8 of them. Anybody else have this?

Is this adult acne? Can it be prevented? What is the best treatment?
It doesn't sound like adult acne if they are lasting about 2 years. It sounds like they are Sebaceous Cysts. Sebaceous cysts will last a long time like that %26amp; if you feel them they would feel kind of like a movable lump under the skin. They are not harmful %26amp; usually the dermatologist can remove them. I have adult acne where I get these cyst-like acne bumps %26amp; they never last more than 3-4 months before they go away. Hope this helps a little.
Reply:Well, have you tryed the regular acne creams and such?
Reply:I know that a lot of people say this just because its probably the biggest acne selling product, but Proactiv truely works.I used to have terrible acne and now i use it and it works like a charm. You can either order it off t.v. or there are some stands in the mall(at least where I live)Well I hope that I helped!
Reply:Go to a dermatologist it could be a range of things from adult acne to std soars.
Reply:I'm a premenopausal woman with the same problem, only it's not a real problem. Changing hormone levels (here we go again teen years in reverse) trigger acne type reactions in skin cells that are either old and shriveled shut, or blocked by makeup. If you can stand to mistreat your own face, use a sterilized needle and pick open the white raised spots on your face. Squeeze out the small white pearl inside, dab wound with alcohol or antibiotic ointment, and go eat a chocolate bar!
Reply:O.K. you can try skintactics, arbonne, and murad. Look up these products on the web. They work wonders for your skin, and if you find them to be a little pricey, just try to purchase it on Ebay. Oh yeah, also dermalogica is great. OH and the pimples you are talking about are called cystic pimples, you can learn more about them on the skintactics website. Good luck
Reply:Acne has no age limit on it. If I were you I would just drink more water. Lots of it. Eat non citrus fruits and veggies because they can cause break outs too. Get enough rest, cleanse my skin daily, and perhaps get a colon cleanse or an enema. Your acne may not go away overnight but eventually with these few tips your system will get flushed out and whatever is causing your acne will go away. Your skin only reacts to what you put in and on your body. As long as you are clean on the inside and out than your skin should clear up.

I have adult acne and was told I might have a hormone imbalance. How do I find out?

I was told there is a progesterone cream that you can buy that might help. Any ideas? I also have some hair growth on my chin. I shave and pluck and I think it might have something to do with my breakouts on my chin. I like to think I am okay looking but this is driving me crazy. I am 43 years old for crying out loud! What can I do?

blood test
Reply:I have hormone imbalances and yes what you are describing sounds like you may too. The only way to know for sure is to go see you doctor for a full blood work-up of your hormones. Makes sure they test your testosterone level - you usually have to insist on this because it is not one they usually run. The hair growth on your chin can be from a testosterone imbalance.

I am currently on a hormone cocktail tailored just for me by a compounding pharmacist - a lot of mine is due to the fact that I had a full hysterectomy at age 32 and I have Hypothyroidism.

Good luck!

I am 45 so I completely understand.
Reply:Forget creams and other bogus doctor affiliated b.s. Change your DIET. Eat less red meats and pork. No junk foods, no sodas(the number one cause of osteoporosis in women and men). Stop adding salt or extra sugars or fake salts and sugars to food. Eat more fresh vegetables raw in salads, stir-fried with tofu in extra virgin olive oil or steamed to bring out natural flavor.

Eat fresh fruits for snacks and sweets. Drink organic fruit juices and 6 to 8 bottles of pure water every day to flush unwanted poisons and toxin from your system. Once you accomplish this, your body responds by keeping you healthy and young looking for a long, long time. You are responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of your internal organs. Once you learn how to care for the inside of your body, the outside takes care of itself. Do this forever and never worry about adult acne or other things. And forget doctors or friends advice on what stupid creams, gels or ointments do this or do that for a short time and you end up spending a fortune trying to fix it. One small change in your lifestyle, your diet will fix about 95% of everything that goes wrong with the human body.
Reply:I have a friend in the same boat. She went to an endocrinologist (hormone doctor) and he took her blood. It turns out, she has no hormone imbalance.

But, she eats well and doesn't eat too much meat or junk food. I don't know... if you're lucky, then you do have an imbalance and can take medicine for it. I wouldn't worry, though, try to be happy with yourself; life is too short.

it is possible that you may have a hormonal imbalance, and this article mentions saw palmetto for that. chaste berry is also often used for these sorts of conditions.

Oh dear adult acne wot is the cure....?

been to the doctors and what he prescribes stings....is there a natural cure apart from the paper bag over the head or plastic bag tied tight as some would say

Oh dear adult acne wot is the cure....?
Hey there, I am a medical student and I've just completed a research project on acne.

My advice is to first of all totally ignore people who claim it is linked to diet or hygiene! Acne is not caused by dirt (as dirt is too big to fit into the follicular pores of your skin) and only allergic reactions to food would cause a rash (not acne).

If the cream you're using is stinging then persevere and you may notice results. If, however, your skin becomes very red and irritated and painful then stop and see your doctor again as these side effects are unwanted.

The next stage of treatment would be antibiotics which are quite successful in treating moderate to severe acne and then after that stage, there are pills called retinoids that dry out the skin in an attempt to clear acne. This last stage has a lot of strong side effects and is usually saved as a last resort, however.

Basically, there are a lot of treatment option for you left to try yet and any of them could be the one that works so don't despair! Don't try over the counter stuff from pharmacies and shops as it is all complete rubbish!
Reply:not really other then going to a dermatoligist im sure youve used every facial scrub already
Reply:Do you take any other prescription or over-the-counter meds on a regular basis? Acne is a side-effect of some medications. I'm 44 and on an antidepressant. I have acne on severely stressful days. Maybe the meds have to kick in extra on those days and results in acne. I don't know... but it's something to explore with your doctor if you are on other meds.
Reply:Acne is a bacterial infection which would normally be dealt with by the immune system, but if your immune system is not up to par then you will be on a loser and the paper bag may be a good option!!!!

There is a good natural available that allows the immune system to deal with any infections or bacterial attack. Due to government restrictions I cannot mention the product here. Perhaps they have shares in paper bags!!!!!

I work with the world leaders in alternatives, their products are based on Nobel Prize winning science, so you can see they are not snake oil. I cannot recommend them too highly, they work.

Take care
Reply:You can ask your doctor about Tetracycline. It is a antibiotic that will clear it up in about a week. My son and his wife had acne real bad form drinking sodas and they took this and was cleared up in no time. It never came back. Don't hurt to ask a professional about it. Good Luck
Reply:iam now 36, and free from it for 6 months, many yrs of trying everything! i was on tetracycline antibiotics whch cleared it for me.
Reply:It could be your diet, if you have alot of fried food there is a possibility that could be the cause.

Remedies for adult acne?

since i turned 29 i started to break out. i get pimples that just dont pop and just stay under the skin. i need help

Remedies for adult acne?
I had the same problems too.(Im 30 yrs old) Go to your dermatologist and he/she can recommend specific treatment for your skin. Don't use over the counter products because it just makes it worse. As a black woman I had acne that would scar my skin too. After going to my dermatologist he subscribed antibiotics pills, creams to reduce breakage of acne on the skin. I also got his private brand of skin care products (cleanser, toner, moisturizer etc.) that actually really works! If you are white you may be able to get laser treatments to eliminate scarring. If you're light or dark skin you can get glycolic peels and microdermabrations done to your skin. (These treatments exfoliates the skin and brings the acne to the surface which helps to eventually elimate them) Drink plenty of water....lots of water. Since then my skin has cleared up and I get acne once in a blue moon that does not scar my face. Hope this helps!

Rosacea Skin, Adult Acne, Symptoms, Diet & Treatment?

Trying demodex folliculorum shampoo, seabuckhorn oil and meds for rosacea scar treatment. Is avobenzone sunscreen, cleansers, even ayurveda any use?

Rosacea Skin, Adult Acne, Symptoms, Diet %26amp; Treatment?
Rosacea is a very common skin condition that causes redness, swelling and acne like bumps mostly on the face, though this skin disorder can also effect the scalp, neck, ears, chest and back - sometimes even the eyes.

More often than not, people mistakenly attribute their awful looking complexions to adult acne, when in fact rosacea is the cause. Today over 14 million Americans, and more than 45 million people worldwide suffer and struggle with silent symptoms.

Some of the suspected causes of Rosacea include:

1. a combination of heredity and environment

2. an immune system disorder

3. a more generalized vascular disease, where rosacea is a subcomponent of the other condition (those with rosacea do flush easily)

4. an infection of the stomach caused by H pylori bacteria.

Doctors do know that rosacea often passes down through generations. Other key risk factors include:

5. Being fair skinned

6. Being of northern European or Celtic origin (although rosacea has been observed in African American's and others with highly pigmented skin tones)

7. Being female

Probably the most confusing (not to mention costly) part of managing your rosacea is finding the right products. Cleansers. Sunscreens. Moisturizers. They'll all become a part of your skin care routine. There's also some great makeup and concealers you can use to cover up your symptoms during flare ups, without making things worse. Your doctor might talk with you about topical and oral medications, as well as some of the state-of-the-art treatments like laser therapy, dermabrasion, microdermabrasion or cosmetic procedures that can help.

All the best medical help in the world isn't enough if you aren't willing to do your part as well. Avoiding the triggers (once you know what they are) is key. Eating right, and sensible supplementing (with your doctor's okay of course) also can make a world of difference in how you look. You can have that healthy, glowing complexion you've always wanted, so long as you're willing to make sincere lifestyle changes to help keep your symptoms under control.

Once you know for sure what you're dealing with, you can take steps right away to make things better.

What is adult acne...and how do i get rid of it......?

What is adult acne...and how do i get rid of it......?
Know one really knows the true cause of adult or any acne, possibly food, possibly hormones. I highly recommend the proactive line of products at the drugstore. Good luck.

Help - Adult Acne?

Im 26 and hve starte getting really bad spots. i look like a spoty teenager :-( Also hair has got really greasy. Any ideas?

Help - Adult Acne?
See a dermatologist. In my experience, the only things that really knock out adult acne are Accutane and birth control pills. Adult acne is hard to get rid of. Just ask Cameron Diaz. There's not a whole lot you can put on your face to deal with it, despite cosmetic company claims. Of course, drink enough water and eat a healthy diet and get your vitamins, but I assume you already do that.
Reply:You need to take vitamin E and B12, they are good for hair and nails plus stress reducing agent (B12). Use (I'm sorry I forgot what it calls) the thing that they advertise on TV for it is the best skin conditioner and repairing agent. Good luck.
Reply:Testosterone makes people greasy and gives them spots, should I ask what your libido is like?

No idea how you lower it, if the spots and greasy hair area problem then speak to your GP.
Reply:Well, I am 37 and have just come out in spots, but I use the Aloe Vera plant, which, amazingly works for me!

All you have to do is snip a bit off the plant and rub it where you are suffering and they should be gone within a day!

Do you have any idea as to why you are suffering so much at the moment?

So sorry that I have nothing more to add, but I do hope you find a solution yet.
Reply:I'm 27, and have suffered with acne since puberty.

The doctor prescribes me Minocycline tablets which work a treat. Am on a break from them at the mo, and sure enough, they are coming back!

Contrary to popular belief, it's nothing to do with cleanliness, make up etc. It's just blo*dy bad luck!

I truly sympathise.

Acupuncture can help you.
Reply:Unfortunately there is no age limit for acne, it can occur in babies and also in to old age. It is likely that you will require prescribed medication in the form of oral or topical antibiotics.
Reply:eat lots of fruit and veg drink lots of water cut down on milk and bread worked for me!
Reply:Stress will always increase acne problems. Acne can be embarrassing at the best of times. I would try going into a site called Epinions.com and find out what users are saying about various products. Good hygene which involves regular bathing helps a lot. Good internal health is a major contributor to healthy skin. Try and stay away from the junk foods. I’ve also had good luck with a product called Acnezine. Try this source I found for more help: Good Luck
Reply:I am 40 and have suffered with acne since the age of about 11 or 12. Mine is hormonal due to PCOS. I'm afraid there really is nothing that can cure acne. Just keep trying various things and hopefully you may come across something that helps. I have tried a list of various things too long to relay here. Both in tablet and topical form, conventional and alternative. Even laser therapy and light therapies, but still I battle. I am hoping that the menopause may ease my skin problems. Over 30 years of acne has effected my life more than anything else. It has a profound effect on personality and confidence, but it really is largely unrecognised by the medical profession I'm afraid. I wish you all the luck in your finding something that helps. Maybe if you've only recently starting suffering with it you may find that it clears up and that it's just a 'blip'. x

Does adult acne ever go away, and when ?

i don't know.. i'm 22 and I still have acne.. i guess when you have kids is when it goes away...

Does adult acne ever go away, and when ?
yes, it depends what you do to make it go
Reply:I had a clear face for a few years, but now at age 22 I'm starting to get a recurrence of breakouts! It really sucks. They're not terrible breakouts but I never used to have this problem! I'm wondering if it's just a phase and if it will go away.....
Reply:Acne does not go away. You can simply keep it under control. Try using products that are aimed towards adult acne and don't try to save a couple of bucks buying these products, you get what you paid for!
Reply:it won't go away on its own. sad to say. in my teens i always had the clearest skin until i turned 21 now i'm fighting acne. lol i'm a commercial for proactiv. and yes i use it. not cause jessica simpson says so..she scares me. but you should try that or talk to a dermatologist first if you're not sure.

I was still get acne when I turned 24 after I had my daughter. I have been using it for 2 years and ive not got a breatkout since.
Reply:Ideally acne disappears after teen years, because these are due to hormonal changes…

But sometimes even if you’re older it still remains, probly because of bacterial pathogens. Try taking antibiotics, ask your physician on what dosage is suitable for your age. Other reason may be heredity… and blood infection
Reply:Theres no cure or specific age when it goes away. I have acne and I'm 18. There are signs it going away but I still get some big pimples once in a while.
Reply:Well if you wash your face, eat right *No fast foods or fatty foods* And Drink plenty of water.

Then you would see the difference!
Reply:It does go away - I was called crater face but they are all gone and so are the scars - remember not to pick at them!
Reply:Usually hangs out for a while, and often around the chin, and particularly around the time of one's period! How severe is it? A good diet low in red meat, high in other protein, such as salmon, blueberries and strawberries, lots of green vegetables and green tea helps. If you need an acne line, don't use a benzoyl peroxide line, but a salicylic acid product, such as Arbonne's. I like Arbonne everything! Contact me with questions!
Reply:For some people yes, it depends. I'm 21, and still have acne. I had it since I was about 13. Try some medications there are plenty out there to choose from. proactive is a popular medication it works for most people.
