You have a hormone imbalance. This happens to me, too. If it's really bothering you, go to the doctor and he can prescribe medication.
Reply:The dermatologists have excellent medications that will clear it up
Reply:There are a lot of different treatments I could inform you of. The truth of the matter is, when it comes to treating acne you should really seek out advice from a professional such as a dermotologist. I am 21 years old and I am on a product right now called Accutane. It has cleared up my acne in no time!

There really is no way for me to tell you what type of product to use because there are different types of acne and I don't know enough about you to give you substantial advice.

There is a website.... It is FANTASTIC.

^^ They will help you with ANY problem you may have.^^

I don't know what I would do without that messageboard! I hope this helps and goodluck.
Reply:The outbreak of adult acne scares many people and they rush to the pharmacy and buy the first available product to treat this problem. Surprisingly, this attitude can result in more harm than good. This is because many over the counter acne treatments have been designed to treat teen acne. These medications may not be potent enough to combat adult acne, whose primary causes vary from teen acne. Always consult a dermatologist to get the proper treatment of adult acne. The doctor can find out the main cause of the adult acne.

Which ace remover/cleaner system really wroks for adult acne?
proactive
Reply:ok..but you have to do this every day..clean youre face with any scrub they sell it at walgreens. When youre in the shower. Once you get out, clean youre face with 70% alcohol. Then apply very, very, very little lotion to youre face. Do that for about 2 weeks it works. ps...stop eating grease food! and drink lots of water!
Reply:An OTC variety that really works is "Nature's Cure" you can get it in any drug store and if you use both the topical cream and the pill daily, your acne will be markedly improved in just a week or two.
Reply:Everyone's skin is different and reacts differently to different products so try what works for you. You can try Proactiv, Murad, or the AcneFree System, it's cheaper.

You can also go to www.Acne.org to see un-bias reviews of products and whether they worked for people or not.

Good Luck.

This question is for people who have had adult acne/scarring and successfully treated it?

My boyfriend has tried everything from antibiotics to chemical peels, creams, lotions, sunbeds and organic microdermabrasion but nothing works, he gets lumps under his skin mostly around his nose and alot of small whiteheads aswell, he tried a drug called rackatin a few years ago which worked for a while but the side affects were horrendous, does anyone know of something that really works?

This question is for people who have had adult acne/scarring and successfully treated it?
I have adult acne. I was prescribed lymecyline which does the job. Also on the more herbal side - Elderflower presse taken daily seems to reduce the sebum production. Also, and this also has MAJOR RISKS of SKIN CANCER, but I go on a sunbed if I have a particularly bad breakout and want to clear it up. But I would advise you to ask your doctor about the lymecyline first. I hope this helps xx
Reply:go and see a dermatoligist and ask for roaccutane
Reply:I tried Roaccutain, its really bad.

To be honest I found that if I avoid crappy junk food my skin is better.

Avoid Soaps and washing powder with extra crap in them, just wash yourself and your clothes using the `Value` brands as there is no added perfumes or extra cak in there that may cause irritation, just the basic ingredients that get the job done

Some days are better than others for my skin...
Reply:i feel for your situation because we are in the same boat, my hubby has suffered with acne / scarring since he was 14.... he has tried all the treatments but not chemical peel because we had been told that it wouldn't make much difference....my hubby gets lumps on his back, shoulders, face etc, and is prescribed the strongest cream they make, he gets terrible blackheads too but he has lots of hot baths which he swears helps, whether it does only he knows..... i don't see his acne i only see my lovely hubby, but it would be a great pressie for someone to remove it, i know he would feel relief.....laser treatment has been recommended to him, but we are still talking about it.....
Reply:For the scarring, try Bio Oil. Works wonders!! Available from chemists and superdrug, and possibly boots. Has your boyfriend tried any Herbal tablets? Theres always a good selection on ebay. Though most of these take a good few weeks to take affect the results are long lasting. Also Acne 101e is very good! Give it ago! Good luck! :-)
Reply:Please try Roaccutain again. Like the others have said, it is the future. It has some uncomfortable effects like dry lips and eyes, but is does really work. Give it again whirl.

What can you do to get rid of adult acne?

About adult acne

You are not a teenager anymore, but a full grown adult yet you still have acne (or pimples)....why?

Research shows that stress and hormone changes can play a factor in the sudden appearance of adult acne.

What Causes Acne?

Although everyone is different, acne is usually caused by the build up of oil and dead skin in a pore. This build up of oil and dead skin is caused because of:

Natural hormones. These are particularly active in your teens.

Stress. From your daily life such as work or personal.

Diet. Eat the recommended amount of fruit and vegetables in your diet and plenty of bran, you may be sensitive to certain food types such as dairy produce or breads.

Plugged skin. Lots of skin cells can close the oil glands or pores, creating blackheads or whiteheads.

Bacteria. Bacteria can easily infect oil glands and pores and grow very quickly.

Family background. If you have acne, your kids are more likely to have it too.

How To Reduce An Acne Problem

You shouldn’t squeeze, pick, scratch, or rub your skin as it makes the problem worse, and it might even cause scarring.

Regularly shampoo your hair, and try to keep it off your face if possible - especially at night.

Keep a food diary to work out if you are one of the few people whose acne gets worse if they eat certain things.

Exercise regularly to get the old blood flowing, and make sure you get a wash as soon after as possible.

Avoid unnecessarily touching your face.

If possible, try to minimize your stress levels.

Avoid getting sunburned.

Change your wash cloth every day, as bacteria can grow on damp cloth.

Wash your face twice a day with a gentle soap like Dove or Simple. Always rinse really well with lots of water, tone and moisturise well too with gentle products as mentioned above. (cleans, tone %26amp; moisturise)

Only wear makeup on special occasions, and then make sure you remove it completely. (for the girls)

Granular facial scrub can make acne worse by aggravating the skin.

Ask your doctor
Reply:get a wash
Reply:proactiv. it works.
Reply:use proactive like ms. simpsion...shes such a great seller for it...not
Reply:It's a combination of hormones and pollution. And maybe a slight allergic reaction to something you're eating. Peanut butter gives me acne. I knew someone allergic to vitamine-C. Since it is necessary for our bodies, he was stuck with his entire body covered in pocks. I use the Noxema pads. They work well. Testosterone also causes acne. I'd say go to a dermatologist and find out if there is an exact cause for your acne.
Reply:1 - cut down on all oily foods

2 - use a fash wash / soap that suits your skin

if you have oily skin, neutrogena is best

if you believe in herbal remedies, then take a few spoonfuls of yello gram flour (Available in Tesco or indian shops), mix with 1 spoon of thick yoghurt and some water to make a paste. apply to your skin and wash off when dry - daily - it works !!

3 - never go to sleep without washing your face

your skin cells renew when you are asleep - give them a

chance!

it is the oils and dirt clogged in pores that is the main reason for acne...

if it is severe, see your doctor
Reply:You could try by changing what you eat, using a good moisturiser. or general use like e.g: clean %26amp; clear mosituriser, oxy facial wash and dermalogical wipes. which can be bought from any good supermarket, chemist or hygiene shops.
Reply:You should drink plenty of water daily, get a good facial wash like Nutrogeana daily facial wash and mask and use this both in the morning and in the night. Dont pick at the spots and dont touch your face with dirty hands. also i reccomend u gat a good vitamin e creame which will help u get rid of the scars.

All the best i hope this works.
Reply:i swear by Johnson's clean and clear. I use the exfoliating face wash, cleanser, moisturiser (all oil free) and a gel that you put on spots to clear them up quickly. It hasn't completely cleared them but my skin is much better now. I also now eat 5 portions of fruit and veg per day and have seen a big improvement, and drink lots of water.
Reply:Yep, you should ask your doctor, but i think you should also consider changing your diet- there is a proven link between a poor diet and ill health. goodluck.
Reply:Get in a pool with chlorine in it
Reply:try proactiv i been using it for half a year and its really good.

Reply:If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.

For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.

Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.

Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

Reply:Here are some REALLY good, and very inexpensive ways to treat most acne at home. Try each method (unless you’re allergic to the ingredients) until you find one that works best for you. Good luck =) BTW, I know some of these may sound bizarre but try them…what have you got to lose other than the acne!!

1. Put toothpaste on your acne before going to bed. (Make sure it is paste not gel). It should reduce the swelling of acne noticeably.

2. Dab egg whites on your acne and leave on for 20 minutes or overnight. It’s supposed to pull the infection out of the blemish.

3. Wash acne infected areas twice a day with warm salt water. This reduces oils in the skin and helps to dry the acne up without further agitation.

4. Use ice on acne before going to bed. This works best on pimples that have not yet formed a head. It reduces swelling and helps to prevent scarring.

5. Wash and dab acne with cotton balls that have been soaked in vinegar. Let dry; do not wash off immediately.

6. Place strawberries leaves over your acne and the alkalinity will help to reduce the swelling.

I am 23 and I think I have adult acne. I have pimples all over my chest and that is the only place I get them

I am a woman and I get pimples all over my breasts but sometimes I get some that look like blackheads but blood comes out when it is popped. What is that? And what is the best thing to use to get rid of this?

I am 23 and I think I have adult acne. I have pimples all over my chest and that is the only place I get them
Actually it could be more than adult acne. Next time you go to your doctor talk to them. You could have a hormonal imbalance or something else and the acne is just the symptom. I have a friend that had the same problem and when the doctor figured out her other problem the acne cured up by itself.
Reply:not enough information to answer the question. maybe you should send us a picture of your breasts lol. no just kidding, you should definitely see a doctor ! good luck and get better soon !
Reply:you can go to the dermatologist and get laser or photo therapy. that is the most permanent way to cure it as for creams everyone is different so u should speak with a doctor anyway. i am also 23 but a male and i became very sick about a year ago and it affected my major organs as well as my skin and i am only now getting back to the way i used to be, my point being a side effect from the medicine used to treat me was folliculitis which are pimples on your chest back shoulders and arms and my doctor is going to use lasers to get rid of the pimples and redness. but i must say it is very expensive and takes about 3-4 times to see permanent results but i must also say it is well worth it when you look in the mirror and actually smile. good luck and you can contact me if you have any more questions, do some research and be prepared when u visit the doc. sorry for all the spelling mistakes bye
Reply:um i got adult acne, after taking acutane in high school, ok this is gross on my butt, and bikini area, women of color )what my dr told me( get adult acne is your not typical areas, benzyol peroxide soap in the bar, and the topical cream, walgreens has it, the set will put you back like $7. It works fast! Good Luck.

Besides oral contraceptives, Accutane and antibiotics, what helps adult acne?

I visited a dermatologist and got a prescription for Nicomide, which is basically a concentrated combination of B vitamins, zinc and copper. I have cystic acne and fond that this reduced the number of outbreaks, their severity and how long they lasted. There are basically no side effects to this medication, the only downside is that some insurance companies don't cover it because it is considered a multi vitamin (you do need a prescription though.)
