Severe adult acne!!!?

I am 23 have had severe acne for the last year. This is what I already do and have tried, so if anyone has any other advise

please let me know.

I have tried benzaclin, proactive, murad, bosia, etc...

I have tried natural products and cures

I take omega 3 supplaments and zinc and a multi wt vit A

I am a vegetarian , I do not eat alot of processed foods, sugar or soda.

My diet and/or lifestyle has not changed in the last year

I always drink lots of water(bottled, smart water, figi)

I try to ONLY eat organic food.

Severe adult acne!!!?
Applying lavander essential oil works wonders. I didn't really believe it until someone reccomded I try it instead of the standard on the shelf stuff.

Besides that, I have found the following things matter and tend to effect acne.

1) Eating sugar (and artifical ones). If you eat no sugar your predispotion to acne drops a lot. Mine completely vanished when I did.

2) Eating greasy fried food (aka fast food). I noticed I was able to feel outbreaks coming on as I ate the stuff. I think sugar matters more though.

3) Getting rid of hair covering the face (so beards, sideburns, or long curly hair that gets to your cheaks). I don't know why this one matters but it does.

4) Washing the face with water from a shower. The more you wash it the better it gets. However, chlorine which is in all tap water irritates it as well, so if you get the chance to get a chlorine shower filter that goes a long way to fixing your skin (and hair).

There are some other anecdotal things I am not sure of in anyway about acne, but I'd leave it as; if you are generally healthy then you will not get acne, so most of the time its best to just think of acne as an indictator for your body. Then again its a pretty awful one to deal with, and I went through a lot of grief before I figured out what I just told you.
Reply:i think it is because of omega 3 thing
Reply:ask your dermatologist about acutain, idk how its spelled but it really works. your on it for five months and the only rule is you cant get pregnant. you also get your blood checked every month. i'm on the fifth month and i look like a differnet person
Reply:i'm almost 30 and struggled with ance for the past five years (in high school i never had problems with my skin). i think stress has a lot to do with it. the only thing that cleared my skin up (and i tried just about everything), was benzoyle peroxide as a scrub. it exfoliates and kills bacteria, and took only a week to completely clear up my skin and also minimize my pores. i use a kind that you can only get in a doctors office, but if you can find one that has 2.5% benzoyle peroxide with scrubbing microbeads, i am pretty sure you will love it! the only thing is that it dries your skin out, so only use it in the mornings and use a mild mild cleanser at night (and wash off with a hot wash cloth).

i am confident this will work for you!!! good luck!
Reply:Hormones could have a lot to do with it also. Ask your doctor.
Reply:I suffered with the same problems in my early 20s and my son started to have the same problem when he was 14 or so. Mine was VERY severe, so I do feel your pain. Here's what I did that worked and didn't work and what I did for my son that worked much better and faster....

Avoid liquid makeup. this seemed to really make my face much worse, but it was a vicious circle because I looked bad, so wanted to cover it up, so used the liquid makeup, which yes, it did cover, but I would break out worse, etc... If I were you, I would try the bare minerals makeup, which is the powder kind, but does cover enough to make you comfortable without aggravating the acne. I also found out that OVERwashing my skin and using alcohol based products to get rid of the oil caused the opposite to happen. My skin would then OVERproduce oils to make up for my stripping my skin of all oils. This sounds counterproductive, but try a very lightweight, oilfree moisturizer after you wash well. If you find the right kind, your oily skin will lessen, which ought to lead to less acne. I used the apricot scrub as well, which helped to keep my pores from getting clogged. Nothing else worked well enough to slough off the dead skin and material clogging my pores.

For my son, a Doctor took one look at his face and said she could help him (he was actually only there for a sports physical). I had been doing the same things for him that I had done and it was not getting better. Poor thing was pretty miserable. She prescribed a cream that was antibacterial as well as included benzoyl peroxide and we kept it in the refrigerator. She also put him on 2 weeks worth of tetracycline, to kill off the bacteria on his skin and in his pores. He was also told to wash with antibacterial liquid soap twice per day, as it is the bacteria that gets into the pores and clogged up and causes the infection that produces acne. All of this has worked remarkably well for him. Talk to a Doctor about getting a prescription for this type of cream. If you want I can find out the specific brand and email it to you, just let me know.
Reply:Have you tried a diet without dairy or a diet without gluten? I've heard that a food allergy can cause acne. I went for 3 weeks with absolutely no dairy in my diet- not even in minute amounts, and then continued to have very little dairy in my diet after that. My skin improved quite a bit.
Reply:Im 33 and had to go to the doctor to get something in the end and was prescribed a topical lotion (zinc and erythromycin) it is easy to use, so go and have a word with your doctor and he/she should be able to help you. good luck.
Reply:Adult acne is often an allergic or sensitivity reaction to a certain food or foods. Although any food can conceivably result in allergic response, by far the most frequent triggers are "dairy, wheat, sugar, chocolate, and corn. "

Try elimination diet to determine whether a food allergy is causing your problem.

A 5% solution of tea tree oil in diluted water acts similarly to benzoyl peroxide but without the drying side effects. Apply this solution by dabbing it onto blemishes twice daily.

Since the tea tree oil is quite potent, test the solution on a small area of your skin first.

Continue with your Zinc, Omega 3 and multi supplements.

Reply:woot. Fellow vegetarian :)

It might be stress. If not that. I'm really not sure what it could be. It might just be a natural accurance (it says the spelling is wrong with that word ) that's happening naturally. Truly unfortunate but you might have to wait until it clears up on it's own, just remember to wash your face every day, don't touch those icky red spots, other then that I'm really no expert. Just my 3 cents :)
Reply:Just another option...

I used to suffer from severe adult acne as well and had tried everything with exception of Acutain...I didn't like what I had heard in regards to side effects. One day my mom told me that she had heard about Oregano Oil and Capsules and that it was suppose to help with acne. Well I thought she was NUTS, but at the same time I didn't have anything to lose by trying it. I started taking the pills and also dabbing a small amount of the oil on the badly irritated spots on my face and to my surprise it started to get better and before long it was gone and I haven't had a severe break out since. Now I am not saying this is the answer for everyone, but it was a life saver for me. I still take it just for general health. I haven't had any bad reactions to it...in the beginning I was burping oregano, but that stopped after so many weeks. Now the oil does have a strong odor, but I would just use that at night so I didn't walk around smelling like an Italian restaurant. Lavender Oil was helpful during the day to dab onto spots and it smells good. I hope this was helpful...
Reply:Sounds like your diet is pretty good, so I am thinking that probably does not have too much to do with it, unless you have an allergy to dairy. What I have seen happen is, the chemicals in your make-up and skin care, are building up in your system. Your system is trying to tell you something here, and I think you need to find more natural beauty and skin care. Even shampoo and hair conditioner, can cause skin problems. It can seem like it comes on overnight, but your body has just had its fill of the chemicals, being used on your skin, and sprayed in the air. Like hair sprays, and deodorants, or even cleaning products for your home. You might want to check out this co. that I know about, they have natural products, including beauty, minerals make-up etc. They also have great natural acne products, that will clear your face up, without using harmful scripts. A friend of mine, her daughter started getting acne when she was about 17, spent a ton of money on dermatologist, and doctor bills. She changed over to these natural products, and the daughters face, neck, shoulders and back cleared up in about two weeks. She said it saved her a lot of money, and the products were really good.
