You have a hormone imbalance. This happens to me, too. If it's really bothering you, go to the doctor and he can prescribe medication.
Reply:The dermatologists have excellent medications that will clear it up
Reply:There are a lot of different treatments I could inform you of. The truth of the matter is, when it comes to treating acne you should really seek out advice from a professional such as a dermotologist. I am 21 years old and I am on a product right now called Accutane. It has cleared up my acne in no time!

There really is no way for me to tell you what type of product to use because there are different types of acne and I don't know enough about you to give you substantial advice.

There is a website.... It is FANTASTIC.

^^ They will help you with ANY problem you may have.^^

I don't know what I would do without that messageboard! I hope this helps and goodluck.
Reply:The outbreak of adult acne scares many people and they rush to the pharmacy and buy the first available product to treat this problem. Surprisingly, this attitude can result in more harm than good. This is because many over the counter acne treatments have been designed to treat teen acne. These medications may not be potent enough to combat adult acne, whose primary causes vary from teen acne. Always consult a dermatologist to get the proper treatment of adult acne. The doctor can find out the main cause of the adult acne.

Which ace remover/cleaner system really wroks for adult acne?
proactive
Reply:ok..but you have to do this every day..clean youre face with any scrub they sell it at walgreens. When youre in the shower. Once you get out, clean youre face with 70% alcohol. Then apply very, very, very little lotion to youre face. Do that for about 2 weeks it works. ps...stop eating grease food! and drink lots of water!
Reply:An OTC variety that really works is "Nature's Cure" you can get it in any drug store and if you use both the topical cream and the pill daily, your acne will be markedly improved in just a week or two.
Reply:Everyone's skin is different and reacts differently to different products so try what works for you. You can try Proactiv, Murad, or the AcneFree System, it's cheaper.

You can also go to www.Acne.org to see un-bias reviews of products and whether they worked for people or not.

Good Luck.

This question is for people who have had adult acne/scarring and successfully treated it?

My boyfriend has tried everything from antibiotics to chemical peels, creams, lotions, sunbeds and organic microdermabrasion but nothing works, he gets lumps under his skin mostly around his nose and alot of small whiteheads aswell, he tried a drug called rackatin a few years ago which worked for a while but the side affects were horrendous, does anyone know of something that really works?

This question is for people who have had adult acne/scarring and successfully treated it?
I have adult acne. I was prescribed lymecyline which does the job. Also on the more herbal side - Elderflower presse taken daily seems to reduce the sebum production. Also, and this also has MAJOR RISKS of SKIN CANCER, but I go on a sunbed if I have a particularly bad breakout and want to clear it up. But I would advise you to ask your doctor about the lymecyline first. I hope this helps xx
Reply:go and see a dermatoligist and ask for roaccutane
Reply:I tried Roaccutain, its really bad.

To be honest I found that if I avoid crappy junk food my skin is better.

Avoid Soaps and washing powder with extra crap in them, just wash yourself and your clothes using the `Value` brands as there is no added perfumes or extra cak in there that may cause irritation, just the basic ingredients that get the job done

Some days are better than others for my skin...
Reply:i feel for your situation because we are in the same boat, my hubby has suffered with acne / scarring since he was 14.... he has tried all the treatments but not chemical peel because we had been told that it wouldn't make much difference....my hubby gets lumps on his back, shoulders, face etc, and is prescribed the strongest cream they make, he gets terrible blackheads too but he has lots of hot baths which he swears helps, whether it does only he knows..... i don't see his acne i only see my lovely hubby, but it would be a great pressie for someone to remove it, i know he would feel relief.....laser treatment has been recommended to him, but we are still talking about it.....
Reply:For the scarring, try Bio Oil. Works wonders!! Available from chemists and superdrug, and possibly boots. Has your boyfriend tried any Herbal tablets? Theres always a good selection on ebay. Though most of these take a good few weeks to take affect the results are long lasting. Also Acne 101e is very good! Give it ago! Good luck! :-)
Reply:Please try Roaccutain again. Like the others have said, it is the future. It has some uncomfortable effects like dry lips and eyes, but is does really work. Give it again whirl.

What can you do to get rid of adult acne?

About adult acne

You are not a teenager anymore, but a full grown adult yet you still have acne (or pimples)....why?

Research shows that stress and hormone changes can play a factor in the sudden appearance of adult acne.

What Causes Acne?

Although everyone is different, acne is usually caused by the build up of oil and dead skin in a pore. This build up of oil and dead skin is caused because of:

Natural hormones. These are particularly active in your teens.

Stress. From your daily life such as work or personal.

Diet. Eat the recommended amount of fruit and vegetables in your diet and plenty of bran, you may be sensitive to certain food types such as dairy produce or breads.

Plugged skin. Lots of skin cells can close the oil glands or pores, creating blackheads or whiteheads.

Bacteria. Bacteria can easily infect oil glands and pores and grow very quickly.

Family background. If you have acne, your kids are more likely to have it too.

How To Reduce An Acne Problem

You shouldn’t squeeze, pick, scratch, or rub your skin as it makes the problem worse, and it might even cause scarring.

Regularly shampoo your hair, and try to keep it off your face if possible - especially at night.

Keep a food diary to work out if you are one of the few people whose acne gets worse if they eat certain things.

Exercise regularly to get the old blood flowing, and make sure you get a wash as soon after as possible.

Avoid unnecessarily touching your face.

If possible, try to minimize your stress levels.

Avoid getting sunburned.

Change your wash cloth every day, as bacteria can grow on damp cloth.

Wash your face twice a day with a gentle soap like Dove or Simple. Always rinse really well with lots of water, tone and moisturise well too with gentle products as mentioned above. (cleans, tone %26amp; moisturise)

Only wear makeup on special occasions, and then make sure you remove it completely. (for the girls)

Granular facial scrub can make acne worse by aggravating the skin.

What can you do to get rid of adult acne?
Ask your doctor
Reply:get a wash
Reply:proactiv. it works.
Reply:use proactive like ms. simpsion...shes such a great seller for it...not
Reply:It's a combination of hormones and pollution. And maybe a slight allergic reaction to something you're eating. Peanut butter gives me acne. I knew someone allergic to vitamine-C. Since it is necessary for our bodies, he was stuck with his entire body covered in pocks. I use the Noxema pads. They work well. Testosterone also causes acne. I'd say go to a dermatologist and find out if there is an exact cause for your acne.
Reply:1 - cut down on all oily foods

2 - use a fash wash / soap that suits your skin

if you have oily skin, neutrogena is best

if you believe in herbal remedies, then take a few spoonfuls of yello gram flour (Available in Tesco or indian shops), mix with 1 spoon of thick yoghurt and some water to make a paste. apply to your skin and wash off when dry - daily - it works !!

3 - never go to sleep without washing your face

your skin cells renew when you are asleep - give them a

chance!

it is the oils and dirt clogged in pores that is the main reason for acne...

if it is severe, see your doctor
Reply:You could try by changing what you eat, using a good moisturiser. or general use like e.g: clean %26amp; clear mosituriser, oxy facial wash and dermalogical wipes. which can be bought from any good supermarket, chemist or hygiene shops.
Reply:You should drink plenty of water daily, get a good facial wash like Nutrogeana daily facial wash and mask and use this both in the morning and in the night. Dont pick at the spots and dont touch your face with dirty hands. also i reccomend u gat a good vitamin e creame which will help u get rid of the scars.

All the best i hope this works.
Reply:i swear by Johnson's clean and clear. I use the exfoliating face wash, cleanser, moisturiser (all oil free) and a gel that you put on spots to clear them up quickly. It hasn't completely cleared them but my skin is much better now. I also now eat 5 portions of fruit and veg per day and have seen a big improvement, and drink lots of water.
Reply:Yep, you should ask your doctor, but i think you should also consider changing your diet- there is a proven link between a poor diet and ill health. goodluck.
Reply:Get in a pool with chlorine in it
Reply:try proactiv i been using it for half a year and its really good.

Reply:If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.

For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.

Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.

Reply:Here are some REALLY good, and very inexpensive ways to treat most acne at home. Try each method (unless you’re allergic to the ingredients) until you find one that works best for you. Good luck =) BTW, I know some of these may sound bizarre but try them…what have you got to lose other than the acne!!

1. Put toothpaste on your acne before going to bed. (Make sure it is paste not gel). It should reduce the swelling of acne noticeably.

2. Dab egg whites on your acne and leave on for 20 minutes or overnight. It’s supposed to pull the infection out of the blemish.

3. Wash acne infected areas twice a day with warm salt water. This reduces oils in the skin and helps to dry the acne up without further agitation.

4. Use ice on acne before going to bed. This works best on pimples that have not yet formed a head. It reduces swelling and helps to prevent scarring.

5. Wash and dab acne with cotton balls that have been soaked in vinegar. Let dry; do not wash off immediately.

6. Place strawberries leaves over your acne and the alkalinity will help to reduce the swelling.

I am 23 and I think I have adult acne. I have pimples all over my chest and that is the only place I get them

I am a woman and I get pimples all over my breasts but sometimes I get some that look like blackheads but blood comes out when it is popped. What is that? And what is the best thing to use to get rid of this?

I am 23 and I think I have adult acne. I have pimples all over my chest and that is the only place I get them
Actually it could be more than adult acne. Next time you go to your doctor talk to them. You could have a hormonal imbalance or something else and the acne is just the symptom. I have a friend that had the same problem and when the doctor figured out her other problem the acne cured up by itself.
Reply:not enough information to answer the question. maybe you should send us a picture of your breasts lol. no just kidding, you should definitely see a doctor ! good luck and get better soon !
Reply:you can go to the dermatologist and get laser or photo therapy. that is the most permanent way to cure it as for creams everyone is different so u should speak with a doctor anyway. i am also 23 but a male and i became very sick about a year ago and it affected my major organs as well as my skin and i am only now getting back to the way i used to be, my point being a side effect from the medicine used to treat me was folliculitis which are pimples on your chest back shoulders and arms and my doctor is going to use lasers to get rid of the pimples and redness. but i must say it is very expensive and takes about 3-4 times to see permanent results but i must also say it is well worth it when you look in the mirror and actually smile. good luck and you can contact me if you have any more questions, do some research and be prepared when u visit the doc. sorry for all the spelling mistakes bye
Reply:um i got adult acne, after taking acutane in high school, ok this is gross on my butt, and bikini area, women of color )what my dr told me( get adult acne is your not typical areas, benzyol peroxide soap in the bar, and the topical cream, walgreens has it, the set will put you back like $7. It works fast! Good Luck.

Besides oral contraceptives, Accutane and antibiotics, what helps adult acne?

I visited a dermatologist and got a prescription for Nicomide, which is basically a concentrated combination of B vitamins, zinc and copper. I have cystic acne and fond that this reduced the number of outbreaks, their severity and how long they lasted. There are basically no side effects to this medication, the only downside is that some insurance companies don't cover it because it is considered a multi vitamin (you do need a prescription though.)

What are some products that are effective for adult acne?

Please don't mention Proactiv, because that didn't do anything but take my money!

What are some products that are effective for adult acne?
This condition in adults can have a number of causes. Some people naturally produce more oil in their faces, and therefore are more likely to suffer from acne problems. Poor sanitation sometimes plays a role, as do bacterial problems in some people. Rosacea is a condition confused with common acne in older people. This condition is frequently referred to as a form of acne. Rosacea causes reddening and swelling of the face, and other complications.

Although the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulates what drugs are marketed to the public and whether the drugs are safe for use, every person's skin is different and may react differently to every product. If you suffer from skin dryness, itchiness, flakiness or irritation, consider switching to a medication with a lower concentration of active ingredient. Different inactive ingredients can also affect a medication's effectiveness. When consulting a medication label, be sure it is "noncomedogenic" which means it has been tested and proven to not clog pores.

I had developed adult acne (had none throughout puberty) and found that it was because I was wearing the wrong make-up and too much of it. My skin could not breathe. I opted to invest in microdermabrasion and a glycolic peel. It made a world of difference after one session, but if you don't want to do something costly, try Noredol Skin Care Gel is a newly patented cosmetic that reduces redness, blemishes and breakouts in skin affected by rosacea or acne. It also soothes and moisturizes the skin without irritation. All of this is possible with one convenient and innovative product. It is very good. You can purchase at www.noredol.com
Reply:oops, proactiv. sorry thats the only thing that worked for me.
Reply:oxy maximum strength pads.

trust me i have some pretty stubborn stuff at times.
Reply:This is a website with a money back guarantee, either look here or go to a dermatologist and tell them Proactiv did not work for you. Good Luck!
Reply:dang u ugly talking about products that is taking your money u need to save that money and get a face lift !
Reply:Multni 'mitti' or Ultra Clearasil may proove to be of some help. Though it gives a burning sensation it dries the soares and heels them.
Reply:deffrin gel, retin a
Reply:See if you can get a copy of the old book CLEAR SKIN by Flandermeyer. I used Oxy 10, washed my face nightly and in the morning shower, and used a Buff Puff or generic to lightly remove the sloughing skin caused by the Oxy 10. This program will get you there, but you have to stick to it, even though you are seeing ugly, dry, flaky skin or redness for a while, you have to stick to it.

One piece of advice -- if you use a product with benzoyl peroxide in it, it will cause the pimples to accelerate, so even though you think the stuff made your skin worse, it actually got rid of the pimple faster than if you had left it alone. AND, that stuff bleaches things as well, so use white pillowcases and hand towels when you use this stuff.
Reply:Serious Skin Care makes a line called Continuously Clear that has worked really well for me. You can buy it through HSN.

Does any body know a home remedy for adult acne?

the dermatologist prescribed antibiotics for 1 month, differin, and hydrocortisone. this has helped 50%. i finished the antibiotic about 2 weeks ago. i seem to be stuck with the rest. it's only on my face.

Does any body know a home remedy for adult acne?
charcoal tablets %26amp; acidophilus tablets supposedly help
Reply:go get benzac wash........ dont try monkey piss, or anyother crazy home remedy
Reply:There are a variety of natural things you can do for your acne: try cucumber slices or fenugreek seeds as a face mask at night--they're both great for pimples and blackheads. Check out http://www.realhomeremedies.com and click on the acne link on the left for more remedies and tips.
Reply:I am currently using vitamins to help and seen a huge improvement. I am in my 40's and on the depo shot, so my face is like a teen-ager again! Try zinc and vitamin A once a day. It does help with continued use.
Reply:Yikes! Antibiotics for a whole month is actually pretty dangerous. Unless you have a fairly serious medical issue, like tuberculosis or Lyme disease, you don't want to expose your body to the problems that antibiotics can cause when taken in that amount. I would get myself a new dermatologist if I were you.

But to answer your question, cleansers with tea tree oil seem to help my facial breakouts.

Does anyone know a way to clear up adult acne?

I am 21 and have tried everything. I have even been to the dermotologist and still haven't been able to clear it up. It's not terrible but it's just enough that it's noticable.

Does anyone know a way to clear up adult acne?
Take zinc supplements everyday. This is a new study dermatologist did. Your acne will clear up in 3 months or less.
Reply:have you tried aveeno? you should stick with products for at least 1 year because they take 6 months to give you results

drink water and exercise so blood and oxygen reach the face
Reply:I am 21 too and have blotchy skin, but for the past month I have been using natures cure it really works! I had tried everything to, and its only like $10 for 30days, you should get it!
Reply:try mary kay...it's a great skin care program that can be customized for your skin and it has a fix for everything.....i use the basic skin care and for an extra acne fighter i use the blemish control toner......the eye makeup remover is great too because it is ok for acne prone skin
Reply:Neutrogena is a good over the counter line of products for acne prone skin. Make sure you're sticking to a product routine for 3-6 months though. Changing products frequently can make your acne worse.

Also, don't over wash. Morning and night is enough. I know it's tempting to wash several times a day, but this will just overdry your skin and cause more breakouts.

My final suggestion isn't for everyone, but . . . quit wearing make-up. Lip gloss and mascara are okay, but don't put anything else on your face. Your pores need to breathe, and even non-comdegeneic make-up still gave me problems. Once I stopped wearing make-up my skin got so much better.
Reply:An excellent remedy for pimples or acne-prone skin can be made by mixing 1 teaspoon ground cloves with 2 tablespoons fullers earth and ice water. When you wash your face, use sugar to scrub it, at least once a day, for two weeks to rid yourself of acne. Check out http://useinfo-acne.blogspot.com/ for more useful info.

the following 2 testimonials can be seen at http://www.earthclinic.com/cures/acne.ht...

Angelina O, has found that applying ACV topically to her face several times a day (4 or more times) has cured her of a "very bad complexion". She reports that she applies it straight and that while it burns her skin a bit, it still works like a miracle!

Cheryl writes, "My daughter developed a case of moderate acne, and after trying a number of different things for over a year which helped very little or not at all, she started drinking 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar three times a day and applying it topically once at night. She has been acne free for two months. It took about three weeks to clear up."

to drink, add to water and honey, or to apple juice.

you can get the vinegar at the health food store, or in some super markets.

Does anyone know a cure that works for Adult Acne?

I have tried a few things and would use what a doctor can give me as a last resort really, I've tried Witch Hazel and Tea Tree Oil along with different face and body washes.

Does anyone know a cure that works for Adult Acne?
hang your head in shame, stay indoors or wear a bag-on-head in public, theres enough ugly mugs out there without you SPOTTY
Reply:Roaccutane.

the best thing out there for acne, ive been on it for 2 months

and my acne is nearly all gone and my face doesnt produce any more oil so it wont flair up, you will read all these bad things about side affects but i can honestly say i havent had one side affect apart from dry lips and that is nothing compared to having great skin, trust me ask about accutane it works
Reply:If you are old enough to be going through peri-menopause, you will just have to do what the teenagers do. Watch the amount of fat, processed sugars and caffeine you take into your body and wash your face at least twice a day with a good acne wash. Keep some cover-up medicine around for the ones that still come up.

Hormones can be a real pain.
Reply:Try to stop drinking milk or eat anything that consist of milk products for 3 months at least...More that 3 people on ten are allergic to milk product and they don't even know.. if you try everything else there nothing to lose to compensate your lack on calcium you will have to drink soy milk it is not very tasty but it will help you a lot !!! Hope it will work for you
Reply:My mom is probably much older than you, but she still gets acne. What she does is, she uses AVON face products everyday several times. It seems to be working wonders for her. She always makes sure that she washes her face before going to bed. I do not know if this would work for you. But what is the worst it could happen? If it does not work, you can move onto some other stuff. Also, I have learned this from experience. When your face is breaking out, do not put on really oily face moisturizers. Look for face moisturizer that uses a base besides oil. Hope your acne problem goes away soon!

Whats the best way to get rid of adult acne?

I am 26 and still have problems with my complexion. I would prefer answers from those that have tried products that worked for them... thanks.

Whats the best way to get rid of adult acne?
I have found that using a combonation of products is working for me. I'm currently 20 and have had acne since I was 12 or 13.

I started using Proactive but it didn't really work. My face was getting so dry with it so I went out and purchased a generic facial moisturizer with no oil, fragrance, or dyes. I use the Proactive moisturizer in the morning and the other one at night.

I also switched foundations I was using. I went from a Neutrogena one made for problem skin to Revlon's New Complexion. As soon as I started wearing makeup daily and continuing my daily regimen of washing my face and the moisturizers, my skin was clearing up and becoming alot smoother.

I'm not saying that these specific products will work for you but try using a combination of things consistently. That way your face can't really adjust or become immune to one certain product!

I hope this helps and good luck! Let me know if you find out anything to clear up these nasty scars!
Reply:Tea Tree Facial wash from the Body Shop. Also, pure tea tree oil on your zit. It shrinks the zit and takes the redness out. Don't use it on open zits though.
Reply:i don't know.

let me know if you get a good answer.

my dr. said skin is worse all around due to pollutants in the air.
Reply:proactive worked for me, and my mom uses it too, our whole family has bad acne problems, and this is the only thing that worked for all of us, but it's not cheap, it cost us over 100 a month, but to us it's worth it, and it will be cheaper for you because there's two of us using it. good luck, pimples really suck!
Reply:Proactive seems to work for alof of people, but not everyone. It helped my skin just a bit. Try Retin-A, I used this a couple of years ago and it helped alot, but when I stopped applying it on my face it came back. I was also using some other medicine with it, but I forgot the name. I hope you find something that works for you.

Goodluck!
Reply:Try the followin tips i found for u .do not use chemicals on skin. Follow these instructions and do let me know if they worked on your skin. i'm sure they will!

1. Put toothpaste on your pimple before you go to bed, should help reduce swelling overnight. Make sure it is the paste not the gel. One of the most popular acne home remedies.

2. Wash your face twice a day in warm salty water. This should leave your face oil free without aggravating the acne.

3. Apply a paste of fresh methi (fenugreek) leaves over the face every night for 10-15 minutes and washed with warm water. This will prevent acne, pimples, blackheads, and wrinkles.

4. Place strawberry leaves on the acne, the alkalinity helps to reduce the swelling.

5. Extract juice of one lemon and mix with equal quantity of rose water. Apply this mixture on the face and let it stay for about half an hour. Wash the face with fresh water. About 15 days application helps cure acne, pimples and reduces blemishes and scars.

6. Another method is to massage the face with the skin of lemon before washing with lukewarm water.

7. Apply fresh mint juice over the face every night for the treatment of acne, pimples, insect stings, eczema, scabies, %26amp; other skin infections.

8. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. At least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables should be included in your diet. All acne home remedies should include a healthy diet.

9. A couple of garlic cloves, crushed and dabbed on the face 1-2 times a day. One of the smellier acne home remedies!

10. Home face wash for acne: Mix together 1 or 2mls each of the following: witch hazel, tea-tree and sweet fennel essential oils, adding essential oil of geranium for women and essential oil of rosewood for men. Mix with 300mls of water. Shake before use, as the oils will float on top of the water during storage. Dab affected areas with cotton wool two or three times a day. The oils will clean and unclog giving antibiotic-like protection to the skin.

11. Apply fresh lemon juice on the affected area overnight. Wash off with warm water next morning.

12. Use 2-3 tsp. dried basil leaves to 1 cup boiling water. Steep 10-20 minutes. Cool, and apply with cotton ball.

13. Grind orange peel with some water to a paste and apply on affected parts. One of the best acne home remedies.

14. Clean face with cotton wool dipped in rose water 2-3 times a day.

15. Mix 1 teaspoon lemon juice in 1 teaspoon finely ground cinnamon powder and apply on affected areas frequently.

Anyone know the cause or prevention of adult acne and facial cysts?

Ask your Dr about Differin (gel, not cream, it's more efficient). If it will not help you then try Accutane. It's more powerful but it's antibiotic.

Good luck!

Anyone know the cause or prevention of adult acne and facial cysts?
You would have to see a dermatologist. The facial cysts will scar. It's hereditary. My nephews had that. One of my sons got it as well. The only thing that stopped it was Accutane and the doctors tried everything before that. My son was on meds for 5 years before Accutane. Try Mederma or the generic equivalent (it's over the counter) for scarring. There is no way to clear it up on your own. Most insurance companies will cover the meds and the Dr visits. If things are still the same with insurance companies the Drs will have to use antibiotics first and you will have to keep going back before they can prescribe Accutane. They have to try every other method before they can prescribe Accutane.
Reply:Well i have acne 2 and I have been researching a vitamin called B5 if you go to acne .org there are literlay thousands of people saying that it has Completly cleard up there acne . The catch is that you have 2 drink 10mlg a day which means if you buy a 500 mg bottel you have to drink about 20 pills a day in divided portions. It is not harmful and it 's Pantothenic acid which people with very oily skin lack in there system. I bought a bottel yesterday but I'm going to buy a 1000 mg instead of the 500 that i bought. I think its way easier to take 5 pills in the moring and 5 pills @ night but i know its all worth it if this acne goes away. N E ways check it out . type in yahoo B5 cures acne and do your research. God bless and i hope i helped:))))

If anyone knows any home remedies for adult acne please post...thanks?

Some people have vitamin deficiencies, and taking a good multivitamin can help acne.

From age 17 to 23, I had terrible acne. Up to 28 new, pus-y pimples a day. (I don't think that's how you spell pimples with pus but I am NOT going to say p***y pimples). In the Army, the VD specialist who happened to be good at acne as well, started me on tetracycline, four days later my face was totally clear, and I took it for some years. Last I heard tetracycline is still what dermatologists do for stubborn adult acne.

The problem with antibiotics, is they cause major vitamin deficiencies. A buddy put me on to Vitamin-B supplements, which eliminated the chronic fatigue I had suffered from. Soon after that, the acne went away, and I no longer needed antibiotics...

When one takes antibiotics, one should also eat a lot of yogurt, or drink sweet acidophilus milk, or both.

If anyone knows any home remedies for adult acne please post...thanks?
I have heard that honey works....never tried it.

What is the best way to treat adult acne with intermittent flare-ups?

acne is really a bacterial infection gone out of control. This is an indication of out of balance skin. Think if you need to improve your hygiene. Once that's ruled out, you want to pay attention to your water-drinking, diet, and exercise.

And as above mentioned, birthcontrol pills also can overcome hormonal imbalance.

What is the best way to treat adult acne with intermittent flare-ups?
i would check with your dr in case you need a dose of antibiotics. make sure you dont try to pick them as that will lead to further infections.

buy anti acne soaps and scrub your face well.
Reply:Birth control pills or Proactive.
Reply:use apricot scrub everyday
Reply:tea tree oil at health food stores walmart or pharmacys
Reply:This costs just pennies and is easy to use. Mix 2 tbls. of apple cider vinegar and water in an 8 oz. glass. Will get rid of the acne forever. You must take it daily though. Read about acv on the web. Makes hair and nails grow super long super fast.

What's the best way to handle adult acne?

I'm using Proactive it helps but I still get a few pimples. I want completley clear skin! I'm 32 so I can't use teenager products, they dry out my skin. Help! Thanks for any real answers!

What's the best way to handle adult acne?
THIS WORKS FAST %26amp; CHEAP!!!

I used Tetracyclin, Proactive, Retina A and had many expensive facials with less than good results.

This has worked for me and many many other happy people.

Go to pharm.,Drug store, or Walmart, buy "PURPOSE" bar of soap - Blue box - Made by Johnson %26amp; Johnson - wash your face with this

2-3x's per day. Also pick up a LOW strength Benzoyl-peroxide cream, apply the cream by dabbing

to the individual blemishes.... DONT rub it in works using a oxidation/reduction reaction..It will unclog

dry it out and bring it to a head...DONT over use this or put anywhere else on your face. It will cause drying and make you look worse.

Salicylates such as found in regular asprin among other products work very similar but also remove layers of skin...

other over the counter creams with this product will dry out pimples but maybe too hash and cause surrounding skin trauma..

I have seen many people recommending crushing asprin and making a paste which probably will dry out the blemish but again

pretty strong and probably will cause more tissue damage and bigger scars as an anti inflammatory

probably would take the reddness out... again pretty harsh for sensative skin.

Also, If need which probably will for moisture ASK FOR "NUTRADERM lotion" - the orginal not the new stuff, this works

great and wont clog pores or leave a residue on your skin...Any lotion that is completely oil free and hypoallergic should

work but again I recommend Nutraderm. I have heard from people online that "Purpose" also makes a lotion that is good, Nutragena, and Nivea

make good products also. I recommend Nutraderm from experience and my dematologist.

"Purpose Bar" %26amp; "Nutraderm" are oil free and hypoallergic they contain no perfumes and are great for both men and women.

I have also heard great reports of this soap helping improve skin tone. Some people recommend the "Purpose luqid soap" saying

that the bar did dry out their skin some. The rational behind using the bar is that there are no ingredients in it that will clog pores, and

according to dermatologists they recommend the Bar. These products are safe for all skin colors and tones. I highly discourage use

of Proactive and other harsh chemicals for people with some natural color in their face due to the bleaching and drying effect it has

shown in many many people.

Additonal TIPS: acne, pimples, etc are frequently cause by a bacteria or hormone issues that cause clogging of pores

DONT PICK POP POKE (your hands are the dirtiest part of your body) and will cause: infections, spreading of germs, more breakouts and scarring

DONT EVER listen to people online who tell you to scrub your sensative skin or use harsh chemicals

such as: Lemon juice, vinagar, alcohol, etc... DONT EVER use that APRICOT CRAP!!! DONT USE

PROACTIVE- this is expensive and harsh it may kill the bacteria cause also Benzoyl based wash but

will irritate skin and cause bleaching of face and neck.... Other similar treatments may work.. also

things such as Accutane but have SERIOUS side effects.... Eating healthy...Drinking plenty of water.. changing pillow cases freq.

etc ...avoiding dirty sports equp. such as helmets...can not hurt.......................................

THIS WORKS FAST AND CHEAP!!! I no longer get expensive facials, take oral antibiotics, or even NEED makeup... I am very happy - Have

very good skin... and have many many other happy friends... THANKS again to my WONDERFUL

DERMATOLOGIST... TRY THIS!! GOOD LUCK.... PS. "PURPOSE" costs about $3

PSSS- I had adult onset acne in my mid 20's no problems as a teen PPSSSSS I'll be 32 on Thursday and this is what I use...

Editon: as far as scars go.. it takes a lot longer to get rid of ... the purpose soap should even out the color.. and eventually fade with time... but again scars are hard.. treat the pimples before you even attempt to put anything on the scars... I have heard good results from "Maderma" and there are other things such as collagen treatments... I DEFINATELY WOULD BE COMPLETELY AGAINST MACRODERMABRASION FOR PEOPLE with sensative skin .... treat the blemishes give the soap a while .. see the improvements the scars will fade with time...;-P
Reply:Try Clinique products at Macy's They work real well for all types of skins
Reply:sometimes completely clear skin isnt possible... why dont you try changing your diet... that sometimes helps.
Reply:go to a skin doctor it only cost like 40 dollars for a good one and he or she will tell you trust me thats how my uncle go his acne go away
Reply:For the scars, confront a dermatologist. They will prescribe you some cream it works like magic! Ive had to use it cause the acne leaves behind scars. And on the acne use apricot scrub! I'm 34 and all this has worked.
Reply:Hi:

I use Arbonne's re9 system my friend who suggested it had chicken pox when she was 25 that left her with a ton of facial scars. She swears this helped clear her face.

If it doesn't you have 45 days to return it too. It self adjusts to your skin so if you will have cell turn over and a glowing complexion. It (for me) is worth every cent. (I am 39)!

I have samples if anyone anytime wants to try it.
Reply:raw unpasteurized apple cider vinegar

heat a qt of water, add 3 tblspns vinegar, make a tent over the pot, cover your head with a towel, steam your face. then dab some vinegar on your skin to clean, do this process 2 more times, then squeeze the blackheads. mix 1/2 water, 1/2 vinegar, chilled, dab on face to close pores and tone skin....

as a skin care routine,

raw unpasturized apple cider vinegar..

the following 2 testimonials can be seen at http://www.earthclinic.com/cures/acne.ht...

Angelina O, has found that applying ACV topically to her face several times a day (4 or more times) has cured her of a "very bad complexion". She reports that she applies it straight and that while it burns her skin a bit, it still works like a miracle!

you can get it at the health food store, or in some super marktet health food sections. i use bragg vinegar..

good luck

Cheryl writes, "My daughter developed a case of moderate acne, and after trying a number of different things for over a year which helped very little or not at all, she started drinking 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar three times a day and applying it topically once at night. She has been acne free for two months. It took about three weeks to clear up."

to drink it, put it in honey and water, or apple juice--tastes like cider..cost is 5 dollars a qt at the healthfood store

What is a good remedy for mild adult acne?

exfoliating! A major factor in acne itself is buildup of dry skin cells, and the stuff that is in your pores can't get out because of it. Salicylic acid in a clarifying lotion (astringent), and moisturize! Skin that is kept moist heals faster!

also, detox your system from within. drink a lot of water every day!

What is a good remedy for mild adult acne?
I am 40, never had acne issues, but began to get some now and then when I was in my mid 30's, I am now 40, and wash my face every morning before showering and in the evening before bed with Noxema (in a blue jar) it has menthol so it feels so good on your face, and cleans the pores well. Really makes your face feel clean. For individual acne that pops out now and then I use benzoil peroxide, store brand works just as well as name brand. Both work well- also for any scars that may be left behind there is stuff called SCAR ZONE- and this lessens the appearance of any scars the acne may leave behind.
Reply:I have always had acne on my forehead and around my jaw just below the ears. I have tried everything with nothing working that great. I started going to a tanning bed for a month and I have no more acne and a great tan. It really works for me.

Use a hot compress on it, and then use cool water to close the pores. Do the process over and over again, about five or six times. Use soap to wash the area, and then treat it with an alcohol soaked cotton ball. It should be gone within five to six hours.
Reply:I have tried almsot everything fron proactive to nuetragina and anti-biotics. Nothing works because what happens is that they make the acne go away, but it can come back. You want to cure it for good, meaning you need to see a dermatoligists. Trust me its quick, you sit down he looks at you for literally 5 seconds and perscribes something, I was amazied how quick it was. I was perscribed pills and they worked like a charm and the scars are going away, I'm only breaking out a lil due to stress but not like before, these are juss occasionally 1-2 pimples, my skin is clear and smooth. SEE A DERAMTOLIGISTS, IT SOUNDS CLICHE, BUT IT IS THE BEST DECISION YOU CAN MAKE WHEN IT COMES TO ACNE
Reply:proactive is pretty much good for anyone

benzoil peroxide is the key to taking away acne
Reply:If you truly have adult-onset acne, your first step should be to see a dermatologist. I had absolutely beautiful skin as a teenager and young adult and then about the time I turned 30, my skin went haywire. If you are still in your teen years, or early twenties, I would try the ProActive first.
