Adult acne...?

I'm very frustrated. I had acne all through my teens and some in early college. I had been through accutane 3 times in HS and in college it was mostly under control.. especially the last few years.

Now I've moved, and for some reason I keep breaking out everywhere, they are usually smallish but persistant. It warmer and more muggy here and I walk around alot... possibly extra sweat = acne??

Anyone else frustrated with this? A recurrance way later in life. Girls can put makeup on atleast but guys are kinda stuck with it.

I'm healthy, eat pretty well, and have a relatively low stress level... what can I do? If it continues to get worse I might try accutane again in very small doses.. that always worked.

Any ideas for products that have worked? I use astringent sometimes in certain spots and just wash with soap. I'll put hydrocortisone on red spots.. though I think any anti-redness there is just wishful thinking.

Any ideas?

Adult acne...?
i have the same problem

i am a girl and i would get it cause of pms

but i did go to a doctor

and now i have a dermatoligist

and they're really nice and they give you medacation

and it really works you might want to try that
Reply:I'm 37 and still have break outs sometimes, especially in summer. I use witch hazel and it helps minimize them.

BTW, some places make make up for men to use...cover ups that hide blemishes. I don't know where you can get them, but I think some shops in LA have them. Go online and check it out. It might help during break out season.
Reply:Lime juice, tomato slices, home made packs can be used for treating acne. You can find more cheap, effective and natural home remedies for pimples at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/acne.html
Reply:Well, my mom makes something with aloe and it works pretty good. Just do the following:

1)Buy a bottle of Bay Rum. It has to be Superior 70, or it wont work. It's a bay oil based, and you should be able to find it in a pharmacy.

2)Next, you're going to need an aloe leaf. You're going to cut it open, and scoop out all of the clear, transparent-green slim inside. Once you've done this, pore the slim from the aloe plant into the bottle of Bay Rum. Make sure to remove some of the liquid from the bottle first, otherwise it'll overflow and spill.

3)After putting the slim into the bottle, you're going to close the bottle and leave it outside for an entire day. It has to be in the sun in order for the mixture to mature.

4)And lastly, just get a cotton ball, dab it with the ointment, and apply it every morning and evening after you've washed your face.

This works for me, however, it doesn't work instantly. You have to continue to apply it without fail. I hope it works for you like it did for me. :)
Reply:Did you ever try Clinique's line of products for men? I'm a woman and I used my husband's scruffing lotion (11 dollars, basically an astringent) and it worked wonders for me! I can't afford the whole line, but I find money for Clinique's astringent.

Make sure you are washing your face 2x a day with a cleanser with either triclosan or salicylic acid in it. I have better luck with triclosan, because the salicylic acid breaks me out. I use Clearasil's face wash. Make sure you read the ingredients.

Don't use the hydrocortisone on your face. It doesn't work too well for acne (I've tried, believe me) and it may break you out.

I know how frustrated you are, I'm 27 and sometimes my face looks like I'm 13 again. :(
Reply:I deal with adult acne too, so I know how annoying it is. Your soap might be too drying. Go to a drugstore and look for the following items, but whatever you buy, make sure it says that it's non-comedogenic (i.e. won't clog your pores):

- a cleanser/face wash

- an over the counter acne medicine. Most of the OTC products have one of the following as their main ingredient - benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. You'll have to experiment a little to find out which ingredient works best for you.

- If you use an astringent, it might also be too drying for your face, like soap, so follow that with a moisturizer. Make sure that the moisturizer has an SPF of at least 15, especially since the above acne-fighting ingredients might make your skin more sensitive to the sun. A good one to try is Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture with SPF 15.

A few tips:

-Try to keep your hands off your face.

-If you get a zit, don't pop it. You'll risk infecting the surrounding skin and leaving a scar.

-I've tried natural remedies and vitamins and none really worked for me, but I definitely think they're worth a try. Google natural remedies - acne.

-Wash your face twice a day, especially before bed and after a workout.

-Change your pillow case often.

Reply:Hi,

Have you ever tried clearpore? if not yet then I would strongly recommend it. I got extremely positive results within weeks of using it. -%26gt; http://tinyurl.com/33azgx

I'm not saying I love it only because it worked for me. I do because it has worked for each and every person I've recommended it with excellent results. It tackles the acne problem from so many different angles that I bet it works for anybody. I'm even keen to think I'm not the only fan out there.
